Holy shit!

That was a nice swerve with naming him Hank Henshaw. I am a little surprised that DC films let them have Martian Manhunter though. Since they've outed him now, I hope they use beyond the glowing red eyes.

Edit to ad...looks like they will

Fun episode. I'm a big fan of the human nature side of superheroes and seeing them save the peons of the world. It was such a richer and more interesting story than the Gorilla Grodd wannabe sub plot.

Wow, guess I eat a lot of crow about questioning people earlier in the season suggesting Henshaw's identity  Boy was I wrong.

Was completely surprised by this. Hopefully they use the Martian Manhunter correctly. It was a huge swerve since in the comic books Henshaw becomes Cyborg Superman and Martian Manhunter's secret identity is John Jones and works as a detective in Gotham City. I actually expected him to show up in Gotham and not in Supergirl.

The Martian Manhunter was briefly on Smallville. I guess that is his Superman family connection. I was definitely surprised they went with him since he adds another expensive character to show using his powers. The whole character looked CGI, which is going to make it tough integrating him into many action scenes.

Before the Martian Manhunter reveal I thought this episode was hitting all the right emotional beats. They handled Kara and Jimmy perfectly when she lost her powers. I am not a huge fan of the gimmicky solar flare power they just introduced in the past year for Superman but I understand why a writer would want it in their tool kit.

So how long do we wait until Kara gets exposed to Red Kryptonite?

Kidding but I did figure it must have been him pretty early.

Good episode. liked That white Jimmy Olson finally called her out on her nonsense with black Jimmy Olson.

I guess the producers couldn't resist using "J'emm, Son of Saturn" to force the reveal of "J'onn Jonz, The Martian Manhunter".

I enjoyed this ep. Great seeing Kara dealing with being de-powered. I didn't need the whole "are they gone for good?!?" drama though. I think it would have worked better without it because 1. this is the first mainstream introduction of the concept and 2. We as the audience know they aren't going to depower her for long this early in the show.

I'm surprised they went with MM because not only is he a big name, but because he is usually depicted as near equal in powers to Superman with a bunch of additional powers like shapeshifting, mind reading/control, phase shifting, invisibility, etc. Unless they depower him they are going to have to find a way to write around that without undercutting Supergirl's storylines.

I thought the scene with Winn reacting to kara and Jimmy was a bit off because he's been trying to hook up with her for a while and so while I get him reacting jealously, even pulling the "he has a girlfriend" card, the "you don't get to be normal" crap seemed off a bit off, and I really didn't I didn't understand Kara's taking it and later apologizing.

My favorite moment was when Kara got her powers back and flew down the elevator shaft. She's so fast, she went to the ladies' room to switch into her costume before flying down to save Jimmy, as she's fully in uniform on the flight back up. ;)

I liked how Jimmy apparently weighs enough that the cable broke with him hanging from it.

I don't think this development precludes the possibility of the real Hank Henshaw returning as the Cyborg Superman. He was thought to be dead in comics before his return, correct? And we certainly have no indication that he died a mundane, "dead and buried" type of death, it is entirely possible that his body was somehow destroyed but his mind is looking for a home. In comics, he eventually wound up in Superman's Kryptonian birthing matrix, and the DEO has Supergirl's rocket ship, just sitting around, right? For that matter, I wouldn't rule out the return of Pa Danvers.

Yeah, I was hoping they wouldn't go there and just have her rescue him in her work clothes. Pretty silly.

Pa danvers as Cyborg Superman.

Tossing it out there so I can be annoying an quote this post in the future saying "See, I called it! Oh man, my powers of fanfic'ting in my heard are so awesomely in tune to the head writers of this show!"

I'm with you...I don't think either Jeremiah Danvers or the "real" Hank Henshaw are dead.

Nit picks aside, thought this was a really fun episode. Liked the aspect of Kara dealing with losing her powers and how helpless she felt.

The Martian Manhunter reveal was pretty awesome.

Yeah funmanstan, eat crow!!

I also think that Jeremiah is still alive. No way they cast someone like Dean Cain, who has history with the franchise, to only appear in 2 episodes and in flashbacks. I'm sure there will be a big reveal with him still alive later in the season.

These two things were pretty silly to me, but that seems to be normal for this show. I'm glad the lighthearted tone of the show kind of helps overlook these things.

Something tells me Martian Manhunter will spend 90% of his time in the Hank Henshaw body.
