I liked "Daredevil" so I'll give this a shot.

I have a feeling this is gonna be pretty cool. Maybe not as solid as Daredevil, but this is a lesser known character. But still looks great.

I'm hoping for 50% less broken bones than daredevil. I don't know anything about the Jessica Jones character. Is this hope going to be crushed?

I think she's likely to get less broken bones than Daredevil. But her punches will likely break some.

Reviews are good so far. And the friend I have who works for Netflix loved the show. I got really high hopes for this going forward.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessic..._and_abilities

After coming into contact with experimental chemicals and spending some time in a coma, Jessica emerged with superhuman abilities. She possesses superhuman strength and while its upper limits have never been defined, she has shown herself capable of lifting a two-ton police car with little apparent effort. Her strength allowed her to lift up a giant-sized Goliath by the nostrils and toss him a short distance, break Atlas's nose, and render her fellow superheroine Jessica Drew unconscious with a single punch to the face. Jessica is also somewhat more resistant to harm than an ordinary human. While being held at gunpoint, Jessica implies that shooting her would only ruin her jacket, although she admitted that she was bluffing and had no idea whether or not she was actually bulletproof. She later withstood being punched by a human on Mutant Growth Hormone and suffered only mild bruising and a bloody nose, and was able to recover in moments after being shocked by Jessica Drew's venom blasts. Despite this resistance to harm, Jessica suffered severe injuries, including a damaged spine and neck, a detached retina, and a broken nose after being attacked by both the Vision and Iron Man.[volume & issue needed]

Jessica is also able to fly, and while she was able to fly quite well during her early years as a heroine, she has admitted that her flying ability degenerated while she was no longer an active hero. She has since displayed improved flying ability after joining the New Avengers.[volume & issue needed]

After her ordeal at the hands of the Purple Man, Jessica was given a degree of psionic protection by Jean Grey of the X-Men. This psionic protection was sufficient to protect Jessica against a second attack by the Purple Man, though she had to "trigger" this resistance on her own.[volume & issue needed]

In addition to her superhuman powers, Jessica is a skilled detective and investigative journalist.[27]

From her marvel.com character profile

Jessica Jones possesses superhuman strength; the parameters of her strength are unrevealed, but she can lift an automobile with no discernible effort. She possesses an enhanced level of resistance to physical injury, although she is unsure of whether or not she is bulletproof. She is also able to fly, although she is out of practice in doing so.
EDIT: fumanstan beat me to it.

I'm more excited going into this than I was for DD because it's a completely new character/story to me. Plus DD turned out great so it gives me hope.

Tonally what I've seen so far reminds me of Powers, legit super powers in a kind of film noir world.

I'm looking forward to this but will probably binge watch it over the holidays while everything else is on hiatus.

This looks dark but from reading the comics, it is more of a film noir drama with the occasional reference to powers rather than a true superhero story. She very rarely uses her powers from what I have read so far.

Also, not sure if you're aware, but both Powers and Alias (the comic JJ is based on) were written by Brian Michael Bendis.

Good to hear. I liked Daredevil because it felt like the story/characters could exist outside the comic book universe. I watched one episode of The Flash and Supergirl and bailed.

No, I didn't know. Thanks. I'm not huge into comics, but I did read the first series of Powers a while ago.

Bump

Now available as of 12am PT/3am ET

Probably won't be able to watch this right away. I have other things to catch up on.

If you guys are going to binge the entire season this weekend, as dex14 said, please use spoiler tags and specify what episode you're talking about.

Well, that was a strong first episode. I can already tell Marvel &Netflix have hit the ball out of the park again.

I thought it was a strong first episode too... but I'm not quite sure why they needed the scene with
Spoiler:
Cage and Jones bumping uglies
, just seemed really out of place. I'm sure they'll explain it later.

Solid acting all around.

It's an important bit from the first issue of the comic.

That's correct. I'm three episodes in and outside of a passing reference to the Avengers that's not even made by name, I'm not seeing anything that requires any more than a slight familiarity with other MCU properties.

Although I highly recommend watching Daredevil just because it's pretty good.

You most likely don't need watch Daredevil to in order to follow the storyline, but there may be some characters that were introduced in Daredevil who will appear at some point during the season. At least that's what I've heard. I've not started on it yet.

4 episodes in and I am loving it to bits. I haven't read the comics but I am definitely going to download as soon as I finish the season. What an interesting character.

Krysten Ritter is really good. I wasn't hugely familar with her work, but she's impressing me.
