A negative review has turned up:
"The New MST3K Is a Bad Show About Bad Movies"
(I agree with what's said in the comments section below the review)

Ignoring the "personality-less" insult, this guy doesn't know much about MST3K if he thinks seeming "fine with his confinement" is different than before because that's EXACTLY how Joel was on the show: perfectly fine with his confinement on the SOL.
Joel was happy on the SOL and never tried to escape like Mike did - which is why it took Gypsy secretly sending him off for Joel to leave the SOL at all. This review guy claims to be a MST3K fan but this little bit makes me think he exaggerates that claim quite a bit.
And he also claims that MST3K started as a "late night UHF channel show" - while it's true that KTMA was a UHF channel, MST3K was shown at 6pm on Sunday nights, so aside from the time they were on late for New Year's Eve, the show was NOT a late night show at all.

J. Elvis Weinstein had a perfect tweet:
I'm finally going to watch the MST3K episodes with the new cast.

He was the original Tom Servo, who was replaced by Kevin Murphy (and by TV's Frank as the new Mad assistant) in episode 201.
But episode 201 has never been released on DVD. He's a pirate!

Ok now I understand but the guy doesn't have Netflix?
Edit for some reason I read that as being the first new season 11 episode.
Now I actually do get the joke.

I'm partway through Starcrash as well. Cry Wilderness is still my favorite of the season, but Starcrash is gaining ground.

Cry Wilderness was weird for me, it's a case where the movie was so wretched that not even the riffing was helping. They were getting some zingers for sure, but that horrific dubbing and the Native American stereotypes were just horrific.

The fascinating thing about Cry Wilderness is it was made in 1987. Does any part of that movie look like 1987 to you? There's a ten year old kid hitchhiking, and the movie treats it like no big thing -- this is like the same year Mr. Belvedere had an episode about child molestation. It's like a 1960s Disney movie made by Mormons.

I had to dig out my bluray of "Starcrash" so that I could finally get it watched before seeing what MST3K does to it. Silly but very watchable movie, and Shout's supplemental material (produced by a super-fan who has seen it over 500 times) is pretty terrific.

Loved a little callback in episode 5 (iirc). Jonah screams that he wants to stop the movie, and the bots reply that they can't, tried it, but are made out of those special parts.

Please tell me the rate of jokes is going to be cut down a bit in this new season? I literally got a headache trying to follow the Season 11 episodes and couldn't watch them.

I thought the first couple episodes suffered from this but they eventually seemed to find a better balance as the season went on.

Exclusive: Mystery Science Theater 3000’s new season gets a fitting premiere date on Netflix
Erik Adams
Last Turkey Day, Netflix gave fans of bad movies and wisecracking robots something to be thankful for, renewing Mystery Science Theater 3000 for a 12th season. It was a fitting choice, extending the show’s Kickstarted revival on a date that’s long been synonymous with MST3K marathons and premieres.
And now, like the aunt who’s perfecting her stuffing recipe well in advance of the big meal, the streaming platform has done it again: The A.V. Club is the first to report that new episodes of MST3K will arrive on Netflix this Thanksgiving—Thursday, November 22—marking the show’s third decade of riffing.
“Thirty years ago on Thanksgiving Day 1988 is when we premiered Mystery Science Theater 3000 in the Minneapolis market,” said creator, original host, and executive producer Joel Hodgson. “We were competing with 60 Minutes for the same time slot, and I think history has shown which is the better show.”
When last we left the intrepid crew of the Satellite Of Love, test subject Jonah Heston (Jonah Ray) had been temporarily relieved of his outer-space captivity and threatened with a buzz-capturing marriage to his captor, Kinga Forrester (Felicia Day). Fortunately (or unfortunately), a lovesick TV’s Son Of TV’s Frank (Patton Oswalt) sicced a giant metal serpent on Jonah, bringing the wedding to an abrupt end and stranding Jonah’s robot friends (voiced by Baron Vaughn and Hampton Yount) in orbit above the dark side of the moon. All five cast members are confirmed to return for season 12, so we’ll presumably get an explanation for how Jonah escaped the belly of the beast. Either way: Being eaten by Reptilicus Metallicus is still better than a life of watching cinematic stinkers, right?
“I think the movies are even worse than last season, but I know the show is better,” Hodgson said. “I could be mixing those two up.” Day straightened things out: “The movies are deliciously bad and I get to torture my cast mates in new and innovative ways. I love my job!”
Added Ray, “When is the quote for The A.V. Club announcement of the new MST3K season due?”
Ahead of the new season, Hodgson and Ray will hit the road for a 30th Annniversary live tour, which begins in Portland, Maine on October 9. (Tickets for the tour are on sale here.) Until then, whet your appetite for fresh MST3K content with these exclusive photos from the set of season 12.

I forgot the comics were coming out, but I think the first one is already out. Not really a comics guy, but I have to get these. Where's the best place online to order comics?
