This is one of my most anticipated shows - love the books although the last two haven't been as good IMO.
Now if only we'd get a proper series of Parker novels I'd be in heaven.

Cool, I've been waiting for a trailer. I've been working my way through the books and while I don't think it'll be as crazy as Banshee, I love that it's on Cinemax. Looking forward to this.

I read something that said this series will be a more grounded Pulp action show. So I anticipate the action/bloodshed, but it won't be as over the top as Banshee.

Cinemax promoted this tonight before the series finale of Banshee.
Said it will premiere this Fall.
Here's the new promo:
I'm looking forward to this. After Strike Back and now Banshee ending, I need another gritty pulp action series.

CINEMAX has confirmed the debut date for QUARRY, with the eight-episode season of the drama series to launch FRIDAY, SEPT. 9 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT).
QUARRY tells the story of Mac Conway, a Marine who returns home to Memphis from Vietnam in 1972 and finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public. As he struggles to cope with his experiences at war, Conway is drawn into a network of killing and corruption that spans the length of the Mississippi River.
Logan Marshall-Green (“Prometheus”) stars as Conway. Also starring are Jodi Balfour (“Final Destination 5”) as Joni, Peter Mullan (HBO’s “Olive Kitteridge”) as The Broker, Nikki Amuka-Bird (“Luther”) as Ruth, and Damon Herriman (“Justified”) as Buddy, along with Jamie Hector (HBO’s “The Wire”) as Arthur, Edoardo Ballerini (“Romeo Must Die”) as Karl, and Skipp Sudduth (“Ronin”) as Lloyd.
QUARRY is created, written and executive produced by Graham Gordy & Michael D. Fuller (“Rectify”); directed and executive produced by Greg Yaitanes (CINEMAX’s Emmy®-winning “Banshee”; Emmy® winner for directing “House, M.D.”), along with executive producer Steve Golin (HBO’s Emmy®-nominated “True Detective”; “Mr. Robot”; the Oscar®-winning “Spotlight”; the Oscar®-nominated “The Revenant”).
An HBO Entertainment production in association with Anonymous Content, the series is also executive produced by Matt DeRoss (“The End of the Tour”), David Kanter (“The End of the Tour”), Max Allan Collins and Ken Levin (“The Scribbler”). Additional writers on the series include Jennifer Schuur (“Hannibal”) and Max Allan Collins.

Been waiting for this forever. Didn't realize Max Collins would be a contributing writer on the show. That's cool.

8 episode 1st season
75 minute premiere tonight
This is from one of the EPs and directors of Banshee, Greg Yaitanes. He is directing all 8 episodes.
Preview with the creators giving background on the show.
Been looking forward to this since it was announced. Cinemax is sorely missing a gritty pulp action series since Banshee and Strike Back went off the air.

I'll give anything based upon Max Allan Collins a shot.
It would be nice if a single advance review would omit any reference to the main character's "pornstache."
Do wish that a cable network would do a series adapting his Nathan Heller books.

I too have been excited for this. I'm told it's loosely based on the Collins books, so I'm not expecting it to be terribly faithful. As good as the books are, the previews for this look pretty damn good and I'm optimistic it'll be good in its own right. Looks to have a lot of potential similarities to the First Blood story given the heavy focus on the Vietnam background (the books didn't dwell on this all that much).

Really enjoyed the premiere. As suspected, it was a departure from the books, but was compelling in its own right. Didn't see it coming, but liked how the Broker drew Mac/Quarry into his scheme as part of the situation with his cheating wife.
Great period detail too - direction, music, etc. Overall, thought it was very well done - looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

if nothing else, the show gave me my weekly dose of Peeno Blanco.
i think I was kinda expecting banshee in the 70s and was surprised at how much it reminded me of rectify, but with nails in baseball bats. Short enough season, i am sticking with this.

They really captured the period well with the music, clothes and hair.
Felt bad for Mac. 1st his war buddy gets killed in that botched hit and then he gets another kick in the nuts when he finds out his wife was cheating.
Guess those factors are enough to push him over the edge into this dark hitman world.

I loved it as well and have really been looking forward to it since they were filming it here in Memphis last year. Nice to have Dewey Crowe back on TV as well.
