My understanding is that they are going to deviate from the comic again.

Spoiler:
The comic jumps ahead a bit after Rick killed the guy. The series will apparently explore the time frame in between.

If Mr. DVD's spoiler is true, I like the comic deviation (even though I haven't read the comics).

Also, we've all been wanting it for so long but it'll feel strange to see Morgan for more than an episode. And he and Rick are supposed to be cohorts, not adversaries!

I guess Gabriel's dead soon... especially since there aren't any other black guys left.

Are you anticipating they're going to be adversaries? That's a bummer.

I'm not too far into the episode, but I'm already finding the narrative structure of jumping back and forth between the past and the present to be very annoying.

If only there was a way to distinguish between the two...

No need for the sarcasm. I obviously know which is which, but just because I can figure out what's going on doesn't mean it can't still be annoying to me.

I know. I was just being a douche. I thought the same at first but it grew on me throughout the episode.

Is Morgan going to continue the whole show with the judgmental look like if Rick is doing something wrong? WTF? Seriously!

Wow. Good ep and nutso ending. Such a glaring contrast with FTWD.

Love the black and white / color story contrast.

Rick is doing something wrong.

The Carter stuff was a little ham fisted with him dying immediately after shaking hands/making up with Rick.

My only post for this season: must miss television is back !!

Hope everyone enjoys it, have no remote idea what people like about this show, but it is super popular. Maybe first sign I am getting old and out of touch with mainstream tastes.

hanshotfirst1138 10-11-15 10:19 PM

Hey, they're still shooting on film this season ! Decent premier, though it was blatantly obvious that something was going to go awry with their plan to heard thousands of zombies. I'm assuming that the dissension within the town is going to be the big theme of the arc of the season. They seem to be setting up Rick snapping at some point. He even got spurned by that lady he seemed to have eyes for last season. Certainly flexing the budget, that was an impressive crane or helicopter shot for a TV show, and I'm sure some of the crowds were VFX shots.

Can you hair pour some gasoline down there? Does what destroys the zombies' brains have to be concussive? Couldn't you just burn through them to destroy them? It'd be easy and they'd still be down in the big pit. I'm sure I'm overthinking this.

Amanda Beckett will miss him.

Good first episode. I didnt mind the contrast in timelines going on. I kinda enjoyed it.
I can certainly see Rick is going to be loosing trust soon from his own group. That will be a point where Morgan shows his baddass and I cant wait!

I didn't mind the back&forth storytelling, but did the B&W bother anyone else's eyes? It was always such a huge relief to me whenever we went back to color.

I enjoyed the premier a lot, it was movie quality. We saw more zombies in this episode than we have seen the whole run of the show.

That said, I didn't really understand or approve of Rick's plan either. Once something went wrong, it looks like everything Carter said would happen did. Seems like there should've been a better way to kill them, especially when the zombies were pretty much all hoarded up together.

Possibly since it wasn't really black-and-white, but just had the color dialed down, it did seem a little soft in resolution.

Worst plan ever! I can't tell--is Rick supposed to be stupid, or are TWD writers just stupid themselves?

I was thinking the same thing. They were contained in a rock pit so why not just lite them up.
