Maybe they could find a steamroller somewhere.
Or a combine: (spoilered for size)

Mikah, I've seen fields burn but we're not talking about dead and dried up corn stalks. [..] I think posting the image shows just why burning them would not work. It boils down to whether or not the zombie's bodies are a viable fuel source for the flames. I don't think they are. A quick Google search on cremation indicates it takes between 1 to 4 hours of constant, intense flames (1400 to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit) to cremate a body.
There are several times we've seen fire used against the walkers. However, in #3x14 (governor season), there are walkers trapped in some type of underground metal tank and they pour gasoline in and light them on fire. The next day when they come and check, the clothes are gone and the skin is all burned up, and some are dead, but some are still reanimated. They can't walk, etc. (they're laying on the ground), but they're reanimated.
I think I'll call that a draw. They wouldn't be all be dead as I expected, but the remaining ones would be in no condition to attack our crew. We have to judge the show by the rules it establishes.
Given the givens, I'd still try fire before I'd try leading them out and herding them somewhere else, but it's certainly debatable.

King Smoth -- that is the flaw in the "Avalanche" plan. Also, they would probably need to get into the quarry to set the charges below the access roads.
Josh -- I was driving past a farmer in the fields today and had that same thought ... Just drive a combine down there!
Coral, Mikah, and the Burner Crowd -- we'll agree to disagree. Coral states "throw wood in there since they are surrounded by trees." That illustrates my reason for thinking it won't work. Ever try to burn freshly cut wood? A forest fire doesn't burn because of the trees in the forest. It burns because of all the dry tinder (fuel source) on the ground. Eventually it reaches a temperature and intensity at which it begins to cook the water out of the living trees (in this case, zombies) and only then will the standing trees (zombies) start to burn. This is a rock quarry -- no tinder on the ground. You'd have to find a way to accomplish creating a massive fuel source. What we don't know is how flammable zombies are. I speculate not very, but I could be wrong.
Mikah -- sorry, I didn't finish the rest of your post before starting to type mine. I figured there had to be another example of burning. I think that may be the more relatable instance. They needed to add the fuel source in a contained environment.
What if they used a lightsaber with adamantium walls along the road?

Wouldn't a combine jam up pretty easily with bodies?
