Still hoping gamer-girl and the gun-happy black woman die off. The gaming girls powers are just dumb and the FX looks abysmal.

This show is terrible. Tim Kring is not good at this.

I'll keep watching, though...

Re: Heroes: Reborn (S5E03) -- "Under the Mask" -- 10/01/15

I re-watched Heroes over the summer for the first time since they aired so this season just feels like a normal continuation to me.. That's sort of a bad thing being Heroes really went into a downward spiral as it closed out it's series run..

I don't understand "rebooting" the show and going right back to story lines about memory wipes and people just sitting around talking. Superhero stuff is all over the place now and this show is just coming across rather flat to me..

it's almost like the people behind the reboot think just having random super powers on a show is "new" like it was back in 2006 when Heroes first launched. Ehhh I stick it out a few more eps being I'm a sucker for the theme and I'm always optimistic that a show will get better..

Quentin is being included for comic relief, right? I have no idea why they decided to pair up an average Joe as Noah's partner. We are already well into Heroes: Season three and beyond territory with some of these wacked-out storylines. I really don't like stories where characters get magically mind-wiped and then they hunt down the reason why.

I did like Harrison Prime as a new character.

Yes, he's supposed to be comic relief, but somehow they forgot to give him any funny lines. If he were actually funny I could accept Bennett keeping him around even though it makes zero sense for his character or, you know, logic, but he's not, so...

I don't get the point of the evil corporation retread. Why not take this opportunity to do something interesting if you're going to go down the ill-advised X-Men retread "mutants are marginalized and persecuted" route? Have it be the US government, at least.

By the way, everyone looks bored in that cast photo.

Re: Heroes: Reborn (S5E03) -- "Under the Mask" -- 10/01/15

Sure does seem like Claire is alive and that Noah's memories were wiped to keep her safe. He likely told his friend to kill him if he ever showed because he knew what it'd mean if he did. Seems pretty moot either way with the new eyegear technology that can locate EVOs anywhere in the world; even Claire can't remain in hiding forever. I never understood why Hiro couldn't just jump back and wipe the people out who would hunt the EVOs before they even learn what an EVO was; would save us from this cliche plot line.

Looks like we're just getting another retread of the same old X-MEN plot that has been borrowed over and over again for series based on people having special powers. Really getting tired of this trope.

There really is nothing new about Heroes Reborn. The only difference between Heroes and Heroes Reborn is that the cast isn't as nice as before. It's the same routine and plot rehashed though.

I want to see a show about ACTUAL Heroes, not a bunch of wussies and people on the run being hunted. Can't we just get a show of nice people using cool powers to fight bad guys?

Not to beat a dead horse over minutiae, but where are you seeing this listed as season 5? Every source I checked lists it as season 1 and the title as "Heroes Reborn".

With the slew of superhero / comic book stuff on other networks, NBC probably thought they should have one around too. When it came down to hashing out ideas, some genius thought "hey! We had a hero show before! Let's just relaunch that and save ourselves a lot of time figuring this out. I'm sure people will like it this time around because heroes are cool now"

And thus we have Heroes Reborn

What shocks me about Heroes Reborn is that Kring double-downed on every single aspect of the original Heroes' formula and didn't bother changing a single aspect in response to the much better superhero shows now running on television since Heroes first aired.

This is why I don't trust NBC with new shows and give them much less rope than other networks.

Listed as Season 5 on The Futon Critic, which is the best source for daily listings, episode descriptions. They use the actual studio press release.

Under the Mask is listed as episode #503

Heroes was a television program that never understood how shitty it was. It just kept soldiering on, thinking it was clever and profound, while the entire audience was pretty much hate-watching it and laughing at it behind its back.

Interesting. NBC themselves list Under the Mask as episode #103. Neither site seems to list the title with the colon.

Re: Heroes: Reborn (S5E03) -- "Under the Mask" -- 10/01/15

I found this episode very dull, and I'm losing interest .. Might give it one more episode.

How dumb of HRG to have the guard at gunpoint while watching the video, and then completely ignoring him as he sees himself over his dead daughter's body. I kept waiting for the guard to seize the moment and take him down.

I did like the Harris (Prime) and then the Harris (Clone). Would be neat to see a hundred Harri (would that be the plural?)
Spoiler:
looks like next week there are at least 3

so this is terrible? i've got the 2 episodes on the DVR and was considering watching, but it doesn't seem that good. i bailed on Heroes during season 4, so i am not going to waste my time with this if it isn't worthy.

I'm not even going to ask how the clone knew what the prime was wearing in order to clone the clothes... And if it had been the other hand would Harris (Prime) have two watches?

While a little harebrained, I'm going to stick with this for a few more episodes… I want to see where this is trying to go.

It is quickly turning into Heroes season 5 with some new characters thrown into the mix.

I think I'm in an abusive relationship with Heroes. Although it keeps doing bad stuff to me, I keep going back. Not only that, but I look forward to going back. The first date (S1) must have really been good. And it's really handsome and has such promise.

I don't think it's bad. It's not appointment TV and I feel like I can drop it whenever I want.

I guess I just like Noah.

Suffered through all 4 seasons of the original, but I can't do this again. I'm out. Stopped my recording halfway through and deleted the season pass. I'd been really optimistic about this, too.

Nice it is back but just not the same with Peter Petrelli and the original cast. Most of that cast was close to my age so I could relate.

I think the Zachary Levi character and the kid with his mom might be the best characters.

I zoned out during that Samurai girl video game scene.

Maybe if they brought back all of the original cast it would be fun watching it again.

I think this is what the CW is promoting Legends of Tomorrow to be.
