TiVo Bolt.

I've been in the market for a Tivo for awhile now and came across their newest model called the Bolt. We had a Tivo years ago but it kicked the bucket and I just went with one of the DVRs from our cable company (Charter) instead of buying a new model. One of the features TiVo is touting is the fact you can skip over entire commercial breaks with just one button instead of hitting the fast forward button on the remote.

What are your thoughts on this model? It will be sold in a 500-gigabyte model for $299 and a 1-terabyte $399 model.

I wonder if they have dropped support for Hulu? It's noticeably absent from the product description. One of the things I like about the current Roamio I have is the ability to set up a season pass across all the major streaming platforms + the traditional channels. Hulu being a big part of this.

I might stick with the Roamio for now. The only advantage seems to be the commercial skip option & 4k support.

Seems awesome, but I hate the kink in the box. Why can't you just give me a box I can put other things on top of?

There's no reason for them not to toss in the biggest hard drive on the market. 500GB is a joke. Are they going to have a manufacturer make them specially for them?

Really.

My issue is paying TiVo a monthly fee, plus paying the cable company for a card in the box. The upfront cost, plus the extras makes the benefit of the TiVo disappear quickly.

Sounds like a good way to kill your TiVo.

Hopefully those fees are less than the fee that you would pay to the cable company for their dvr box.

Comcast charges me ZERO for a multi tuner cable card. The monthly TiVo subscription was far less than renting DVRs. YMMV
