What the hell has changed? Eph and Nora have developed a vampire-killing virus but done nothing with it. Angel has been introduced and done nothing. Eldritch has fallen in love with Coco, which hasn’t affected his plan with the Master at all. There’s now a love triangle between Fet, Dutch and Nicki, and it’s boring as hell. The Master has a new body, and achieved nothing with it. Gus is working with a new vampire-hunting vampire, and they have achieved nothing.

I think it's a sort of thing with body fluids.
Either way, it's 11 episodes in and this shit has gone nowhere.

It was pretty much assured that Dutch would survive when she wasn't killed within minutes of the episode's beginning. I didn't particularly care for Eichhorn's ironic Nazi twist which you could see coming a mile away and has been used in a million other movies.

Baby Joffrey?
I'll admit, this season has had higher highs and lower lows. It's time to get past the character development and start moving along. Then again, you couldn't milk 5 seasons out of it that way.
Their biggest problem is the inability to balance such a large cast with numerous story lines.

I too loved them bringing in more backstory for Eichhorst. The highlights of this show have always been when they have done the backstories for each character. Best being the whole setup of the Master, Setrakian, and Eichhorst dynamic.

Eichhorst seemed genuinely disturbed by the hangings, though we know that he gets over it by the time he's assigned to a concentration camp.

Did they get the same Dutch actress to play the girl in the past? Hard to tell since I've never seen that actress without her dirty, emo, raccoon look.

I don't ge the love in this at all. Sure Gedmintas is very pleasing to the eyes, but hell that episode was 100% pure filler.

Right after that I mentioned the same thing to a friend that had the same thought and had already confirmed it wasn't her. They sure do look alike though, which I'm sure was the point.

While I agree that The Strain isn't great television by any stretch, season two has been a vast improvement over season one. The concepts and characters are cooler than the actual story execution. It survives because the genre elements paper over enough of the problems seen in the plotting.
