LOS ANGELES, June 14, 2016 - The Emmy(R)- and Golden Globe-winning comedy series CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, starring Larry David, will return to HBO for its ninth season, it was announced today by Casey Bloys, president, HBO programming. Details of the new season will be announced as they are confirmed.
"We're thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of CURB and can't wait to see what he has planned," said Bloys.
Asked why he decided to come back, David said, "In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, 'I left, I did nothing, I returned.'"

Like the return of Arrested Development, I'm cautiously optimistic. Bad Curb is better than most TV right now, but I don't know how they top that perfect season in New York.

Much different situation than AD. I doubt Larry David is going to green screen the entire cast and focus one episode on Jeff, Cheryl, himself, Leon, etc.

Really glad to hear that this is finally coming back. The show took some longer breaks in the past but approaching five years I really thought it was just done.

But it didn't "end". It wasn't cancelled. He just hasn't been up for making another season. A show like this he does it when he feels like. It doesn't have any guidelines or schedules to follow. It was coming to a point where he was taking 2 years off in between seasons. Now this just took a bit longer.

Yeah. Larry David has always had freedom to do the seasons when he wants with the show. It was never announced as officially over or cancelled. Most of the seasons had a couple years between them and while I wasn't sure if he'd bring it back again I'm glad that he is doing more.

Based on his two year plan, I think clearly he wanted to try some other things instead of another season. The first year season 9 would have been here was 2013, and he did the HBO movie instead. Then in 2015 he did Fish in the Dark on Broadway. Those projects are done so it's time to do another season of Curb.

I hope the season is ten episodes at least. The article linked mentioned him doing between one and ten so it could be a smaller order of episodes. I guess some is better than none though.

This is the greatest fucking news in a long time. I knew he'd be back. 10 seasons seems like the perfect finish.
He always said he didn't like how the Seinfeld finale ended up, but Curb doesn't ever need a finale. It will just end.
Cannot wait for this, and it better be a full 10-episode season. I love the show so much. I can't remember a sitcom-type show I watched the episodes multiple times more than this one.
