Game of Thrones (HBO) -- Season 6 News, Rumors, Castings -- 4/24/2016

Apparently no one else is taking the initiative to start a season 6 news thread.

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/03...-max-von-sydow

86 going on 87 year old Max Von Sydow signed on for season 6

Von Sydow will play the Three-Eyed Raven, the mystical tutor of Bran Stark, who was briefly seen in the season 4 finale (where the character was portrayed by a different actor).

Ian McShane signed on for an unspecified role

http://www.ew.com/article/2015/07/30...-eight-seasons

HBO says the show will run at least 8 seasons, but they are also open to doing a prequel.

Also, the President was asked about Jon Snow's fate:

The president was also asked—of course—if Jon Snow is really dead (especially since actor Kit Harington has recently been spotted in Belfast, where Thrones is primarily shot). Lombardo maintained the same stance as the rest of the show’s team.

“Dead is dead is dead,” he said. “He be dead. Um, yes. Everything I’ve seen, heard and read, Jon Snow is indeed dead.”

They need to film Von Sydow's scenes ASAP. I think he's great for the role, but you never know how much longer he's got.

Yeah, dead is dead. Until you're brought back to life. Duh.

Dead is dead unless there's a witch nearby.

Is HBO's stance on "Jon Snow" all about semantics and pronoun usage?

Or a White Walker king to raise you from the dead to unleash some serious hell on those that betrayed you.

Do you think they would bring Jon Snow's corpse around Weekend at Bernie's style, if they don't bring him back to life?

So is Sean Bean coming back for the final season, then? :)

Wait, if your head is chopped off, do you still come back to life, as long as you're not burned in fire?

winteriscoming.net is saying it's been confirmed there will be a Tower of Joy flashback.

This is reportedly the castle in Spain they will film at

That they'll just try telling us Jon Snow will only be appearing in flashbacks...he's still dead in the present?

No, it's a tower in Dorne.

It's just that a certain event is shown there via flashback that has everyone so up in heels about it making an appearance in the show. Especially since up till now GoT hasn't really been into doing flashbacks. This flashback in particular 'could' tie into some of those fan theories that was being thrown around before. I'm not going to spoil it though and I suggest you don't Google-fu 'Tower of Joy' unless you want to be spoiled as to the contents of said flashback. I don't read the books so when I looked it up yesterday I got spoiled. =/

Apparently Ian McShane is going to be Crow's Eye...I love Ian McShane, but I pictured Crow's Eye as younger and fitter when reading the books.

There's a new theory making the rounds about a certain character having a twin...

It hinges on another popular theory known as R+L=J...

Spoiler:

The theory is that Meera Reed is Jon Snow's twin sister.

The theory hinges on Jon Snow being the offspring of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. Only Jon wasn't the only child she had in the Tower of Joy.

The evidence is that (in the books) Meera and Jon are the same age, and that Howland Reed (her father) was at the Tower of Joy with Ned Stark. Jon and Meera are also physically similar.

The dragon has three heads....

Spoiler:
That is a really bad theory and has no possibility of being true. Howland Reed is ultimately very important to the books, and the Tower Of Joy will spoil much much more than just R+L=J

James Faulkner has been cast as Randyll Tarley. Faulkner played Lord Sinderby, Rose's father-in-law, on last season of "Downton Abbey."

You can say the same for JRR considering how long he takes to write each book...
