Episode 8 of 13

Still cancelled.

Quote from Fuller recently at Comic Con. He reveals a lot here.

http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/s225/ha...pjvYGJdHHiezd4

"I was aware this was going to be our last season," he told assembled press at Comic-Con 2015. "So I kind of wanted to get as much in there as possible."

"I felt like if we were to sustain the Italian chapter for an entire season, there would be episodes that might tread a little water," he explained. "But it was also an awareness of the scythe over our heads - I knew if we didn't do Red Dragon now, we might not be able to."

"NBC has been so fantastic and supportive of us, in allowing us to tell a story that no other network would allow us to do," he insisted. "But once we went below a 0.5, I knew Jen wouldn't be able to protect us from the schedulers at NBC. Nobody's going to buy advertising at top dollar rates for a 0.5 rating."

But NBC dropping the axe presents perhaps more challenges than many might realize: "Once NBC passes on a fourth season, that dismantles a lot of our international funding," Fuller said.

Without its US network, Hannibal loses its "Sony component" - and the AXN channels which broadcast the series in Latin America, Asia, India and other territories.

"So then it's back to square one to figure out a financial model for the show," he added.

Did Armitage speak at all in this episode? If not, an interesting choice. Will's murder reenactment was surprisingly brutal. I loved the effect of his flashlight briefly showing the bodies.

I too really enjoyed the flashlight effect once I understood what was going on. Took a second to realize that is indeed what they were doing with that effect.

I thought they showed him making sounds (disgusted with his hair lip) but not really speaking. I figure he will truly speak when they show him with Reba for the first time.

Some of us started commenting Thursday after it aired in Canada. For whatever reason it airs there first now. This thread didn't exist at the time though. :/

The time jump with Molly just kind of being there felt a little strange. The Hannibal version of Will was such a weirdo it's hard to imagine any woman being comfortable having him around her kid.

It was good to see Scott Thompson and Aaron Abrams. The show had really missed them. Hopefully we get Freddie back next week.

I'm hoping she plays the scene just like she played Tara.

Another great episode. Best show on TV.

Only thing is that, up till now, I never knew what to expect. I know Red Dragon and Manhunter so well, that I (think I) know what's coming.

Given how much they changed the whole Verger story line, I have no doubt we will see many things changed.

Come on, you think they'll play it by the numbers?

This was fantastic. The build up to it was great. What's funny is I was just thinking they could probably bring that effect back for this, and then BAMM! they did. I was pleased. I love that Will was resisting dipping his toe back into thinking like a killer.

It's so wild to me that we live in a world where you can get a guy that was the star in three major movies to do a six episode stint on TV. So wonderful.

Will resisting jumping back in was always part of the story. But with this series speeding so much time on why that is true, it's so much more effective for this version of Will Graham.

why was there no preview for next week's ep.?

good ep btw. but, i still love Manhunter and compare all to it so this fell way short of Mann's thriller.

Since it got banished to Saturdays and is cancelled, NBC probably nixed the advertising budget.

As soon as Jack said,
Spoiler:
"you have a nice life here,"
I knew that
Spoiler:
Will's 'perfect family' would probably bite it at the hands of The Tooth Fairy.
BTW, I've not read any of the books nor have I seen any of the films other than SOTL.

I would have agreed if there was at least some real time lapse between the prior episode and this one. Sure the title card said it's three years later, but it's really only one week later for us. That's why I thought it was a little jarring to just have weirdo Will in a functioning domestic relationship.

IMO Dancy's Will Graham (and Peterson in Manuhunter) showed an ability to turn it off and have a life and family. Which is why it has such an impact when he chooses to turn it on again and leave said family.

Obviously you're entitled to your opinion, but since they're spending the rest of the episodes covering the Red Dragon story, shouldn't you wait until the end to decide which you prefer?

Nah, he'd rather make a quick assumption based on one episode.

Hello,

Richard Armitage looking good in this role, I will be suprised if red dragon will be used to kill dr. Graham.

Best Regards!

I had to giggle when I saw that advert at the bus stop as the tooth fairy picked the woman up.

Would totally eat. Forgetting about the cannibalism, the show is like food porn. I WISH I could cook like Hannibal.
