So what is it?
I was going to make Dramedy an option, but fuck that. I want y'all to commit. That's also why I didn't include an "other" or "twikoff" or "I just want to abstain" option.

I'm not saying it's not both; it is. But what do you think it really is, if you had to choose one?

My vote: Drama. Because, while it has its share of funny moments (like any good drama, IMO), it is, at its core, a drama because of the deeper themes and characters involved.

I agree but can't you say that a good comedy has some dramatic moments that gives it some heart, too?

It's obviously a drama because it's longer than 30 minutes.

If I think of it as a drama then the show seems terrible.

If I think of it as a comedy then the show seems pretty good.

So I'd go with comedy.

There was a lot of comedy this last season...

but there was also the whole Pennsatucky storyline that was really serious and sad.

Yes, and that's a legitimate argument.

I think, in most cases, that works. But this show deals with themes of transgender issues, rape, racism, murder, religion, etc. in a particular way that would never be touched by a show that identifies as "comedy." The story arc mentioned by Cellar Door is the main one I'm thinking of, honestly.

I know this show kind of breaks barriers for what to expect from either genre, so in the end it doesn't really matter, but I'm here for the discussion.
