Re: 2015 Emmy Nominations Announced

I'll update this as more of the nominations come online.

Surprised Jeff Daniels is nominated. Didn't think The Newsroom was eligible in the Drama category this year due to its limited number of episodes in the final season.

Big surprise is no Best Drama nomination for Empire, despite seven slots. No network drama has been nominated since 2011.

Re: 2015 Emmy Nominations Announced

I would imagine Mad Men will rack up the biggest awards this year simply because we've seen the Emmy's do that with shows in their last season.

I haven't started watching Orphan Black season 3 yet but I'm sure Tatiana Maslany put in another A+ effort and I hope she gets rewarded for it.

I'm hoping for Parks and Rec to dethrone Modern Family but I think Silicon Valley or Veep has the better shot at it.

Another year and another snub for It's Always Sunny.

Transparent has the best shot at it actually.

Still no love at all for The Americans.

Re: 2015 Emmy Nominations Announced

Very happy for Tatiana Maslany, but it's a shame that the list of nominees shown here and on several other websites spelled her name incorrectly -- it is Tatiana, not Tatania.

Re: 2015 Emmy Nominations Announced

Vera Farmiga, should have, gotten an a nod, in the lead actress drama category.

Jane Krakowski wasn't good at all on the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Tituss Burgess is deserving his nod for that show.

Re: 2015 Emmy Nominations Announced

At least Farmiga has been nominated in the past for her Mrs Bates performance.

Do the producers of Homeland have nude pictures of Emmy voters or something? The Americans' third season was at least 400 times better than the fourth season of Homeland.

Far too many nominations for AHS Freak Show and not enough for Game of Thrones and Mad Men.

Sad to see that Ellie Kemper wasn't nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy. If she wasn't so damn good and comedically pitch-perfect in the title role, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" wouldn't be half as hilarious as it is.

Apples and oranges. AHS always cleans up because there's so little competition in the Limited Series/ TV Movie category while Drama Series is always a bloodbath. Even less competition for AHS this year compared to last because neither Fargo nor True Detective made the eligibility window this year. No wonder Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates don't want to leave - they're filling their shelves with Emmys.

To be fair, the only realistic potential nominations that Game of Thrones and Mad Men missed out on were Kit Harrington and John Stattery in the Supporting Actor category (and there wasn't really even a Roger-centered episode in the final half-season of Mad Men to submit). I think the two shows are well-represented this year.

Game Of Thrones literally has more then twice as many nominations as any other show in the Drama category. And Mad Men really had no snubs although it would have been cool to see Sally Draper or Ken Cosgrove get a guest nom.And considering how little Moss did in the final season her nom should have probably gone to Keri Russell ,Vera Fermiga or Ruth Wilson.

Re: 2015 Emmy Nominations Announced

I like this line-up. Awesome seeing Kyle Chandler, Bob Odenkirk and Jon Hamm running at the same time.

The lack of Ellie Kemper for Unbreakable Kimmie Schmidt is odd, she makes the show, but that is an unusually strong category this year. I'm very glad it got nominated for Best Comedy.

I remember she was nominated two years ago. But this past season, she was very good. She should have been nominated instead of Claire Danes.

I was also sad about Kemper not being nominated. I think she was snubbed due in part because of a long term Emmy voter favorite, Edie Falco.

Jessica Lange has left AHS. Freakshow was her final season...as of now at least.

Re: 2015 Emmy Nominations Announced

It's good to see Parks and Rec get it's first best comedy nod since season 3. Also, glad that Maslany finally got her overdue nomination.

Letterman got nominated for the first time in a while. John Oliver will be hard to beat in that category though.

Given all the other nominations, the Ellie Kemper snub is very surprising.

Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
Edie Falco, Nurse Jackie - Final Season
Lisa Kudrow, The Comeback - One of their favorites
Julia Louis Dreyfus, Veep - One of their favorites
Amy Poehler, Parks & Recreation - Final Season
Amy Schumer, Inside Amy Schumer - This years it girl
Lily Tomlin, Grace and Frankie - One of their favorites

That is one group that would be hard to break into.

Did The Jinx get nominated for anything? It's in kind of a weird spot being an extended documentary, but I thought it might be in the running for Limited Series. It was truly outstanding - I watched the entire thing twice.

Yeah, it got six nominations in nonfiction programming. (Best Doc/Non-Fiction, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Picture Editing, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing).

Going Clear got 7 nominations (Best Non-Fic, Writing, Directing, Cinematography, Picture Editing, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing)

In you opinion. I think there are far more GoT performances worthy when compared to the others. Beyond Kit both Charles Dance and John Bradley come to mind.

Something tells me even Charles Dance doesn't think he deserved to be nominated this year.

Wait, was there an actual Sweeney Todd TV movie or was she nominated for the Sweeney Todd concert on PBS? If so I'm pretty surprised. Yes, she is giving an acting performance, but is a concert really the same as a movie or TV show? It's kind of like if Louis CK was nominated for Best Actor for one of his stand-up specials.

Re: 2015 Emmy Nominations Announced

I would really love it if American Crime won for best limited series. But, I think American Horror Story will get it since it's way more popular.

I know hardly anyone watched season 1 in this forum, but IMO it was one of the best recent network series (almost cable quality) Super dark and great performances from Timothy Hutton and Felicity Huffman. The actors actually dropped a few F bombs during the course of the season that were of course censored out by ABC. They censored it using an audio drop out than a bleep.

The entire season is on Hulu

It's a super short season at only 11 episodes. If you're looking for something to binge watch this summer before Fall starts, I recommend checking it out.
