For some reason this is showing up in my guide as season 2 episode 3 even though it's the whole one hour "The Siege of Lothal" movie.

Disney XD has terrible guide data, they are constantly changing it at the last minute like Cartoon Network. Never trust any kind of season pass on the channel.
I think it's purposely done to keep viewers more actively following the channel. Most of the channels that rely on advertising aimed at children have very suspect guide data.

That hour was far and away better than anything in season one. Hopefully it continues.

The only thing I really had a problem with was when they stole the Imperial shuttle.
I was watching, thinking "What if it has some kind of tracker on it? It just sitting right out in the open for them to steal. This whole set-up seems kind of fishy..."

It was definitely better than anything I've seen during Season One (I dropped out after 6 episodes). I may watch Season Two just to see where they go with Vader's realization that Ahsoka is alive.

Why did they air that hour-long episode 4 months before that start of the season? All they did was make sure any heat they got from that ep would be thoroughly cooled by the time the season rolled around.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was on Kelly Ripa/Michael Strahan show yesterday promoting it. It looks like she is playing a bad guy in the new season.

The critically-acclaimed animated series "Star Wars Rebels" is set to debut new episodes starting WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14 (9:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney XD. In "Star Wars Rebels" Season Two, past lives will be revealed and the destiny of our heroes will be changed forever. The transformative new season resumes with Imperial oppression on Lothal growing stronger and the rebels seeking out new allies and additional resources to sustain their fight against the evil Empire. With the help of Ahsoka Tano, the crew of the Ghost enlists some old friends: ex-clone troopers who fought in the Clone Wars. As the rebels grow in number, so do their enemies. New Inquisitors are dispatched by Darth Vader and sent to crush any threat of rebellion. Through dangerous rescue missions, thrilling space chases, and spectacular lightsaber duels - the bond of our rebel crew will be put to the test like never before.

When the season opener is a filler episode you know you're in trouble.
The one-hour special over the summer constitutes the first two episodes of season two and was advertised as the season premiere. See description in first post above.

So what's the deal with the Inquisitors (and what happened to them prior to a New Hope?)

Renewed for Season 3.
I wonder if they're hinting at Leia coming into Season 2.

Imperial forces may think they’re rebel scum, but Disney XD clearly thinks a lot more about Kanan, Ezra and their fellow Star Wars Rebels. In fact, we can reveal exclusively that the network has renewed the top-notch animated series for a third season, set to air in 2016.
However, the Ghost gang must first get through Season 2, and fans can get a full dossier of dish on the year’s final episodes in the new issue of TV Guide Magazine, on sale Thursday, Dec. 3. In addition to the details on the show’s genesis and the impending arrival of a major legacy character from the films, executive producer Dave Filoni also opens up in the cover story about the genesis of Rebels, while voice actor Taylor Gray discusses the mystery that's been “looming over” Ezra since the Jedi-powered orphan joined up with Sabine and company.
“He’s accomplished a lot over the course of the first season and has found his own family with the rebel group,” the actor continues. “The one question that’s still unanswered for him is: What happened to his parents?” The answer to that, Gray hints, “will determine what Ezra’s fate is.”
As for the Dec. 12 fall finale, Filoni is keeping things as secret as the plans for a new Death Star. “I’m driving everybody nuts with that on the crew,” he says, adding that “only a select group of people have actually gotten to see” the episode’s highly guarded (and apparently epic) final minutes. “The actors don't even know what happens!”
Well if that’s not enough to send someone to the Dark Side…

As I suspected...
“We thought we had an opportunity to show her learning to be a leader, experimenting with the personality that becomes the stronger more resolute character you see in A New Hope,” Filoni says. “One of the complex challenges of depicting Leia in Rebels is that we have to remind the audience that at this point she is part of the Empire. She doesn’t believe in the Empire, but she is acting the part, almost a double agent."
Our favorite Rebel Princess is only slated to appear in a single episode this season titled "A Princess In Lothal" and Filoni didn't say if we'll see her again in the future, but I have no doubt that, even with only one episode, Leia Organa is bound to leave a lasting impression.
The voice will not be provided by Carrie Fisher (the live-action actress who created the role), but instead is by Julie Dolan, who also played Leia in the video game Star Wars: Uprising.
Star Wars Rebels returns Wednesday January 20th at it's new time 9/8c on Disney XD.
