I'm sure Datak will do something to help save the town and he will be forgiven enough to live. It's a standard trope.

This show has been pretty good this season. The Datak and Stahma storylines have been great. Alak is even actually kind of a sympathetic character now. I like how they've handled Irisa's PTSD. I don't miss the McCawley's at all. But I hope Berlin comes back. She's hot.
Yeah, Datak's final move there was awesome. I loved the reaction of the bad guys as he did it.
I guess the rest of the season will probably deal more with the Omec and their plans.

Holy f***ing s***! This show is amazing.
Me, who's been loathing whatever miraculous, "Datak Tarr lives to appear again and again!" solution for the bind they wrote him into? That was just... F***ing. Awesome!!11!!!one!¡¡
I can count on one (severed) hand the number of times I've laughed hysterically at any movie/show - but that scene last night? I was almost literally on the floor. The look on Rahm's face as Datak severs his MF'ing arm - then, "May I go outside for a moment...? I think I need to collect myself (or what's left of me)."
They, in sheer awe of the magical appendage of Datak Tarr, casually dismiss him and... BOOM!
What a scene, what an episode, what a season, and damn, what a series! Datak Tarr can never die - he'll just cut his own brain out -all by himself- and then put it in another body if the need ever arises. (By the by, maybe he can kill two birds with one stone -although he may not be able to throw said stone just now- and please Stahma by transplanting into a certain Omec.)
I simply can't wait to see the look on the Mayor's face when Datak casually strolls back into the town of Defiance (if he doesn't stay "dead" for the time being, that is, despite his promised pardon) - it'll surely be priceless.

Holy shit!! I didn't expect that. Datak hacking off his arm caught me off guard.
Loved Rahm Tak saying..."That's some Gangsta ass shit!!"
Datak redeemed himself quite well.
Surprised they wrapped up this arc 8 episodes in. Judging by next week's preview, looks like there is a new threat now.

I think the focus will switch to the space vampires. The daughter looks like she is teetering on the edge of doing something that will cause a huge conflict.
I did like how they came up with a way to extend Datak's life. I was wondering why he was asking for a laser knife in that scene when he knew a bomb was coming.

At first, I suspected he was going to use the knife to disable/destroy the device planted in his arm. Being a survivor, I thought he might still be willing to take his chances with Rahm Tak over Amanda.

Am I missing something here... why couldn't they just blow the Net from the start? I mean why did Datak need to even go to their camp. Secondly what exactly was it that was in his arm or was it really just a ploy to get out of the tent and run?

It was explained in the episode. The tracker in an organic material (his arm) would serve as a point to where the net's particles would go. So yeah, there needed to be some organic material as a target that the net would focus on.

When was this explained? Because I don't recall even seeing them do the implant. It wasn't until Rahm Tak said something was in his arm that I even knew about it and then it didn't explain after.

irisa's hand on alak's bare naked chest seemed more than conciliatory at the suspected loss of his father. their loving making will remind me of an albino rat mating with a chimichanga.
yule's amanda hard on is becoming obvious. i thought i saw a bulge under her lab coat.

When the plan was first brought up and Nolan volunteered for the role, then the mayor did and then Datak's kid volunteered his dad.

What a great episode! Thought for sure this was the end for Datak the way they showed parts of his past throughout the episode.
This season has been great, hope we get a season 4!

Just caught up with this ... what a great way to finish up this storyline This season has been excellent. Ramping up the content to TV-MA and killing off major characters has taken the intensity to another level. The plotting has been tight, and characterizations grow and show continuity.

i wonder if he stumbles on the mine, finds clone yule limbs and uses one as his new arm. then it links him to yule somehow, hijinks ensue.
how can they box the purple daughter, she hasn't banged nolan yet?
i hope the kid from degrassi isnt dead.

Considering we just had a pivotal episode last week, a lot of important stuff was happening in this week's episode as well. I guess we've seen the last of crazy space vampire chick.

They've really been whipsawing Nolan and Irisa's characters around this season. IIRC Irisa was fairly bloodthirsty the first two seasons while Nolan was tough but fairly compassionate and spent a lot of time restraining Irisa. This season Nolan has been pretty ruthless and coldblooded up until this episode when he is suddenly suffering agonies of guilt over something that was simply an accident of war. Irisa, meanwhile, has apparently been a closet pacifist all her life and resents Nolan turning her into a killer. It's been interesting, anyway, and keeps you guessing.

I think it's probably time they moved on from Irisa's current arc. Amanda has had a less central role than I expected this season.
