I don't watch cooking shows. I usually watch the first episode of the winner's show, and I saw like two or three of Melissa D'Arabian's because I had a chance of cooking some of those dishes (and did get her book).
I'll occasionally watch Diners Drive-Ins and Dives when it's on, but I generally only watch competitions: Chopped, Cutthroat Kitchen, Top Chef, Beat Bobby Flay. I used to watch Iron Chef USA religiously but let it slip away as the lineup changed.

I liked Dom personally, and he seems to make good food. He's a complete disaster in front of the camera, yes, and in no way deserves to win, but I'm glad to see him stay instead of Arnold.
I figured there was no way Jay loses the final, BUT it's a lot different now that they don't appear to be actually cooking in their pilot. Tough luck, Dom. I guess Food Network is finally being up-front that these guys aren't actually getting a cooking show but a hosting show, which then begs the question of why they need to cook at all during the competition.
Also, Deep-Fried America and All Italian All the Time sound like terrible shows.

Meh. Eddie has a great personality and seemed to know his shit, but I think Jay would have been a better choice.

I thought the same thing, but 1. do we really need another fat guy going around the country eating stuff? 2. I think Jay's issue is he was TOO good. Hear me out. He was so steady you have to wonder if he was ever going to get better. I know Eddie (who is already pretty damn good) will get better. In other words, I think Eddie's ceiling may be higher.

Dom was probably like the third Survivor finalist who sits there awkwardly as all the votes go to the other people. At least the votes weren't read aloud.
If you think about it, the demographic audience for this competition is probably not the people who will tune in for a weekend morning cooking show, so it kinda makes sense that they might get more audience for the winner by making him a primetime host.
