Definitely not an addictive show, which is disappointing given the subject matter. I'm not really sure why I'm still watching the show.

My thoughts as well, which sucks.

I watched the entire season, it was decent background entertainment. Nothing more.

Renewed for a 2nd season. Kind of an odd choice of all their stuff.

An "uncensored, extended" version of the season will hit Blu-ray.

I guess no one here has bothered binge watching the entire season since it was announced that it would be posted. A do recall a reviewer saying that this show isn't really addictive enough to binge watch.
I binged. And, while it's not necessarily "addictive," per se, it was good enough that I wanted to see where it went. I like Duchovny, and the overall direction the show went kept me interested.

This, along with Hannibal, is being sent to Saturdays. Weird that they renewed this and it's moving to Saturdays. I wonder if they'll rethink the renewal.

It's possible that NBC assured Duchovny this would get two seasons before he signed on. They'll probably push it hard on a streaming service in the hopes it finds an audience for season two.

So, NBC Philly shows the Phillies game tonight and Aquarius is not on the schedule. At the end of the game, they say we now join Aquarius already in progress, with about 5 minutes left. WTF, it's like they're begging me to stop watching it.

Re: Aquarius (NBC) -- S: David Duchovny -- Season 1 Thread -- Starts 5/28/15

I binged it when it first came out and thought it was good. It sure had its highs and lows. I do wonder what was real and what was fake (the most puzzling was the Manson being bisexual as you never heard about that). The overall character of Manson had some dark moments at times throughout the show, but he had a lot of weak moments too (probably blame the writing on that one). One of the biggest reasons I stuck around was the music (I enjoyed the music because I love the time) and how it touched other subjects of the time like race. Glad it got picked up for a second season as there were a lot of cliffhangers. I am curious how the unrated part will play out as well.

I believe the real Charles Manson was a male prostitute and/or hustler in Hollywood before starting his cult. I think that is where they are getting that idea from.

I think the episodes are so much better when they revolve around Duchovny's character or the younger undercover detective. The Manson stuff has gotten repetitive after a few episodes.

Yep, I believe the version we got on Blu-ray is the Aquarius intended for international markets. That includes more explicit language and some actual nudity.

How is the blu-ray compared to what was seen on TV/Hulu? Worth the buy and what is the cost? Didn't even know it was out yet.

As a companion to this show (which I binged and thought was okay...good enough that I'll check out the second season, but not really look forward to it), if you're interested in the subject matter, check out the "Charles Manson's Hollywood" season of the You Must Remember This podcast. Twelve appox. hour long podcasts detailing the facts behind Manson's history, from youth to present, and all of the people and Hollywood stars (I might be late to the party, but I had no idea that Manson and his gang were tight with - and pretty much lived with - Beach Boy Dennis Wilson for an extended period of time) that got caught up in his life.

Finally finished the season. Have to say, I found most of the cases were hard to follow. I was continually confused about cases they were talking about, since they only seemed to be referenced briefly when they happened. The powerful guys wife. The Black Panther guys brother. The wife of some white guy. The young black guy that helped the cop. Charlie's girl. Plus more I'm forgetting. And those descriptions are about as much as I remember from the cases.

Pretty disappointing season.

Each episode on the Blu-ray has a little extra material that didn't make it to air. I have now seen the entire season on both NBC's broadcast and Blu-ray. Some harder language and random female nudity made it to Blu-ray that didn't air on NBC.

It is not out on BD until next week. A review will be coming soon...

It's a pretty nice-looking set on Blu-ray once you get past the overly tinted, gritty pilot episode.

I thought the black levels were downright murky and crushed in some spots - like practically grey colored. Outside of that the BD set looks quite nice. IMO

I believe they may have been going for that look at times, especially around Manson's pad and the police station.

blech. I was hoping they'd cancel this so Duchovny could get to work on a full new season of X-Files instead.
