I didn't think the had anything to do with the Coke ad and after reading the comments here I still don't think so.

Were the DB Cooper theories actually being taken seriously? I figured they were just some far out idea that the Internet made a running joke about.

Roger went out with some GREAT lines tonight. We will never know what happened with Stephanie. I liked that they didn't make us sit through Betty Draper's death and/or funeral.

I work for Learjet. Anyway someone can get a screen cap of that scene with Peter, his wife and the jet? I've got it on my DVR but no good way to cap it.

Betty smoking at the end because why not. I wonder if Sally left school for awhile to take care of the family?

Anyone else pick up on the bag that Don kept carrying around -- "Penneys"? Not so subtle remark on his self-worth during those scenes?

Don did the ad. The receptionist at the retreat had red ribbons in her hair, just like a girl in the Coke ad.

^ Someone soon will post a video or imgur album of the similarities between the retreat people and the Coke ad, I'm sure of it.

In an odd coincidence, the Coke ad also was featured in tonight's episode of Happyish on Showtime (another ad agency show). Very weird timing.

So, the Coke ad absolutely had to be Don's doing. Doesn't make much sense to include it otherwise, especially since I can't recall a single time they've ever actually shown a commercial on the show (but my memory is faulty, maybe when he won that award?).
As to happiness, I think Don just needed to know that in life, happiness/love isn't some universal thing that each of us are entitled to. Hearing it from Leonard that happiness/love was essentially a foreign concept to he too was a cathartic event, since Don has gone his whole life searching for both the quick fixes (carnal desires, booze) and the more traditional (marriage, family) paths to fulfillment. Seems it just dawned on him (almost wrote Donned there to be punny) that the "big idea" and being a big swinging dick are the things that made him feel most alive. He's not some normie who can be satiated through pedestrian means.
And the bells were just the "guru" guys, used for effect.
But then, I've never been much for analysis, so take this with a grain of salt. Or a beer or three.

I loved that Peggy and Stan were an old, married couple long before they became a romantic couple.
I also loved the portable TV set with bad reception. Aaah, that brought back some memories.

Overall I disliked the episode. I guess I wanted something more and this episode did not deliver on it at all.
A great show I enjoyed for years but with an ending that I hated.
