Metcalf and Baranski were a fantastic pairing. Meanwhile the Howard, Raj & Stuart thing was beyond stupid.

Would it be asking too much for a spin-off with these two?

I get that it's a sitcom and supposed to be played broad, and I'm sure there's some truth to it, but Sheldon's Bible-thumbing southern drawling stereotype mother is a bit annoying and one-note. I kind of expected more laughs out of the two mothers together. Barasnki is hilarious though, I sort of wish we could have more of her, but I'm glad that they don't overuse her. B-plot was totally pointless, why does Bernadette put up with such infantile crap? Oh, that's right. Fiction.

No mention of Amy, right? A little odd, considering Sheldon's mother was visiting.

Surprised it took this long to get both of the mothers together.

Apparently Byalk lost her father and has been out the last few episodes dealing with the funeral and personal matters.

Awesome episode, but really because of the two moms, and the three "kids" caught in the middle.

Amy was in the scene before the opening. They didn't say why she wasn't there the rest of the time (storywise). If Byalk couldn't be there for filming, Sheldon could have said Amy was doing some time sensitive research or something to explain why Amy was missing.

I guess I haven't been paying attention to the Amy scenes before this in terms of who else is around. So I guess if Byalk was missing other filmings, these scenes could be filmed much later since no guest stars were in those scenes.

Has Sheldon's mother met Amy before?

You couldn't have Sheldon's mother meeting his first ever girlfriend and then make the focus of the plot be on how Leonard 's mother behaves towards the boys.

While I just can't see it happening, what if Sheldon's mom hated Amy for some reason.

They did meet. I forget what season (3 or 4) when Amy and Sheldon first started dating and broke up. Sheldon got a bunch of cats to fill the void. Sheldon's mom invited Amy over and told them it was a good thing they broke up because she didn't approve of the relationship, but of course she was using reverse psychology.

I loved at the end of this latest episode when the boys starting singing 'It's a Hard Knock Life".

I liked that part too. It saved what was otherwise an uninteresting part of the show.

Wow, hard to believe she's been on this long. Looks like first full season was 4 but was introduced in a single episode at the end of season 3.

So that makes their relationship progression that much worse. It's easier when you're thinking, 'oh it's only been a few years' but it's been five years now.
