The all-time too short-lived TV shows

Firefly is an obvious one I am sure will get repeated mention. Same with Almost Human.

For me, though, the tops is Terriers. I mean, WTF, that show was great, and could have provided years of intelligent entertainment. Fuck. The Loop was also pretty funny, as was Wonderfalls.

What other shows were cancelled way too soon?

Re: The all-time too short-lived TV shows

Maybe not all too short but Bored to Death on HBO I feel could have gone on more than three seasons. I'm still hoping for a movie eventually (supposedly its in the works but who knows). I also would have been interested to see where Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles would have gone if it wasn't cancelled. The series was decent but being on Fox was probably the death of it. Also Freaks and Geeks is an obvious one.

Re: The all-time too short-lived TV shows

I'd say TWIN PEAKS, but it's coming back.

POLICE SQUAD! is a great all-time candidate.

Personally, and having recently watched it again on DVD, I think NOW AND AGAIN could have turned into a great series. But if it hadn't gotten canceled, 24 may never have taken off (Dennis Haysbert was on NOW AND AGAIN) the way it did, so you just never know.

I was into Earth 2, Harsh Realm, Threshold, and Deadwood so much that I purchased them on DVD despite their not having a true ending.

Yes, police squad, hands down. What a crime that ABC pulled the plug on that show after only having produced 6 short episodes.

I've will second Now and Again, Terriers and Journeyman. I'd also like to nominate Moonlight.

Re: The all-time too short-lived TV shows

It had 50+ episodes, but I think Happy Endings ended too soon. I'd like for the rumor of it's return to be true.

I'll go with Police Squad! as the best answer.

Frank's Place 1987-88. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank%27s_Place

1 season, 22 episodes. Nominated for Emmy & Golden Globe for best tv series/best comedy (plus multiple other categories). Actually won 3 Emmys. Named #3 on TV Guide's 2013 list of "Cancelled Too Soon."

Sadly remains unreleased on DVD due to "prohibitive music rights issues."

As soon as I saw the thread title, I immediately thought Police Squad!. Seems as if others thought the same thing.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles was just start to find its footing too. It's a shame it ended when it did.

I'll add Dark Skies. It was like 1960s X-Files that aired in the mid 90s. It was fun and only last 1 season.

It was more like Fish Schticks, same characters and universe without Gill's "issues/problem." Lasted all of three episodes on Saturday morning before it was pulled.
