Gary Owens, Laugh-In announcer, cartoon voices, has died (2/12/2015) at age 80
Owens died from complications of type 1 diabetes, something he's had since childhood.
He appeared on the original Laugh-In, usually in an announcer's booth with his hand cupping his ear. He did the voices of the original Space Ghost, Blue Falcon (of Dynomutt fame), and Powdered Toast Man on Ren and Stimpy. He voiced most of the promotional announcements (which are still being used) for Antenna TV. Lots of voice work in commercials for radio and TV, including Kava coffee and V-8 vegetable juice. Most sources give his age as 80: born May 10, 1934; a few give his birth year as 1936. That's Lily Tomlin, in character, as Ernestine, the obnoxious telephone company operator, peering at Owens in the photo in the msn article. http://www.msn.com/en-ca/music/story...-80/ar-AA9neOu EDIT: And here's an Owens-narrated Batman/Batgirl promo. Some of the surrounding material is NSFW. http://www.veoh.com/watch/e992857a4rnS5Y |

He was in one of the funniest bits ever on That 70s Show:

I believe one of his last roles was voicing SPACE GHOST on Batman: The Brave and The Bold.
