Damn that sucks. I don't watch him on a regular basis but I've always liked him a lot and think his show provides better coverage of the news than most actual news programs do. I wonder if he'll move on to a new show eventually or if he's just going to do more directorial work or what.

I wonder how long HBO locked up John Oliver.

No one can replace Stewart, but Oliver is the only one who can come close. I'd also rather see him 4 nights a week, not just 1.

I'm thinking Oliver will stay where he is. Contracts aside, whomever takes over will be "filling Jon's shoes" so to speak, so expectations will be obscenely high.

Since Jon took over, the show has had a method of "promoting from within" for making spin-offs and guest hosts, but it's possible that they may go outside the existing correspondents for this hiring job.

I think he caught the movie bug. I have not seen Rosewater yet, but wouldn't be surprised if he has film/tv director/writer jobs lined up.

Although I'm more interested in seeing what Stewart does next rather than who'll replace him. I'm assuming he'll at least do some stand-up again - it's in his blood.

While no one can argue against the fact that TDS is a liberal leaning program, I have to give them credit on attacking all news channels/networks regardless of "political affiliation". Even last night's episode was evidence of that during the piece about Brian Williams.

Wasn't there a rumor not too long ago that Stewart was being considered for one of the broadcast network's news shows? I'm sure that was just rumor, but with the Brian Williams news and now this, it gets a little more interesting.

The rumor is he turned down Meet the Press. Now here's an interesting trifecta:

Nightly News - Chuck Todd
Meet the Press - Stewart
Daily Show - Brian Williams

I would love it.

Must not watch alot of MSNBC.
