"The Hunter Games" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, LV) (HDTV) THE AFTERMATH - After the massacre at the ranch, Dean (Jensen Ackles), Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Castiel (Misha Collins) double their efforts to find a cure for the Mark of Cain but there is nothing in the lore that can help them. Desperate, Castiel comes up with an idea that Sam deems the "single worst idea I've ever heard." Meanwhile, Rowena (guest star Ruth Connell) continues to plot against Crowley (Mark Sheppard), and Castiel tries to mend his relationship with Claire (guest star Kathryn Love Newton) who is plotting revenge against Dean for killing her friend. Come to think of it, not counting something like Star Trek or Dark Shadows, doesn't this make Supernatural the longest running genre show?

Smallville and Stargate SG-1went for 10. After this year, yes.

Even though I'm in the "I once loved this show but wish it had ended a few seasons back" camp I didn't completely dislike this ep. I don't care much about Cas and his concern over the girl arc, but Crowley is always a hoot.
This season was completely vindicated by the brilliance of the 'Fan Fiction' ep, so I have hope the show can turn around the overall mediocrity of the past few seasons. Rowena - please dial down the Snidely Whiplash dramatics a bit.... |

I didn't care for this ep at all. Too much soap opera. The highlight of the episode for me had to be Dean starting to torture Metatron only because it came right after Metatron's declaration about how he's going to want payment for each step and there are a lot of them had me sinking into a depression just thinking that it was going to take up the rest of the season.
The scenes with Crowley's mom were just horrible. I know they've tarnished/humanized Crowley a great deal recently but even if he's just playing along for some unknown reason it's embarrassing to watch what was once a cool character be so pathetic. As for the Claire storyline, the knowing look the drifters gave each other, combined with the absurdity of two strangers not only believing this kids crazy story but being willing to kill some random guy for her, made me think there was more going on there than we knew..but I guess not. :shrug: I thought a scene between here and Dean might have been pretty good. |
