The James Brown bit was hysterical.

Kevin Hart has more energy than all the other cast members combined.

I normally can't stand Kevin Hart vehicles but I have to say he was s great SNL host.

Good episode. I liked Kevin Hart specially his monologue but I'm thinking it's probably from his stand up. I loved the spoof of the Calvin Klein's Justin Bieber commercials. Kate does a better Bieber than Justin himself.
I know who Sia is because of "Titanium" but what's up with her dancers and the mime? I don't get it. |

So basically she recreated the video on her live performance. Okay I guess...

Re: SNL (s40e11) -- 01/17/15 -- H: Kevin Hart -- MG: Sia
Yeah I had to do a little googling last night after both her performances. Apparently part of the whole mask thing is because she has severe anxiety and stage fright. And I guess the two dancers are performance art and I guess each one is supposed to represent two different sides of Sia. It was interesting to watch at least.

Best SNL in quite a while. Not everything was great, but more hits than misses. Weekend Update is often a low point and was again.

I think they missed an opportunity to have a sock fall out of Bieber's Calvins after the revelation that CK gave him a bigger dick through Photoshop in their ads. Not sure why they would mention a big dick in the sketch when it's not even true, and pass up a joke like that. |
Re: SNL (s40e11) -- 01/17/15 -- H: Kevin Hart -- MG: Sia
What are you people talking about?
I've watched nearly every SNL for the last 40 years and this was an abomination. It set comedy back 40 years. The time in the '80's with Anthony Michael Hall and Robert Downey, Jr was better than this. |
Re: SNL (s40e11) -- 01/17/15 -- H: Kevin Hart -- MG: Sia
Didn't watch the new one. Did watch the SNL classic in primetime though. It was the last show hosted by Eddie Murphy. He was such a force of nature back then.

Haha, yeah very much a Gaga-esque performance.

Re: SNL (s40e11) -- 01/17/15 -- H: Kevin Hart -- MG: Sia
Pretty good episode, can't think of a skit that was a complete groaner, or wasnt saved by Kevin's manic energy. Sia was a very nice singer, but needs to lose the high school performance art.

Re: SNL (s40e11) -- 01/17/15 -- H: Kevin Hart -- MG: Sia
I have a hard time believing there are people who listen to popular music and still don't know who Sia is. Chandelier has been pretty unavoidable this past year and is up for several major Grammys including Record of the Year.
I first became aware of her when her song Breathe Me was used to great effect at the unforgettable ending of the final Six Feet Under episode. It was later used in an inspiring Coke commercial that aired constantly during the Olympics. |
Re: SNL (s40e11) -- 01/17/15 -- H: Kevin Hart -- MG: Sia
I thought this was by far the worst episode of the season. Hart put in a good effort but the rest of the cast seemed to be phoning it in. Even Weekend Update seemed to be a minimal effort.
