The press seems to use "reboot" as a synonym for "relaunch." I doubt they're scraping all the continuity of the show. We'll probably see familiar characters popping up and stuff.

I think it can work without Jack Bauer, but it can't work with a complete universe reboot. I mean, if you're doing a complete reboot, why not just re-cast Bauer?

I'm crossing my fingers for a Tony Almeida plotline. That seems to be the most logical progression.

I thought they were going to use the "Solitary" short as a starting point for the next season.

Yvonne Strahovski just signed on as a lead for a potential new series on Amazon

Ughhh, so that scratches Kate Morgan off the list for the lead. But, she seems to be in high demand right now and of course she's not going to wait around 2+ years for this show.

The should just bring back Col. Shaw. We don't know anything about him. He can take over for Bauer. If the Player fails they should just hire Winchester to play the role again and give him a good back story.

Re: 24 (FOX) -- Season 10 Rumors, News and Speculation -- Coming in 2016?

False alarm, no new 24 news.

But the reason for the thread bump is that I finally saw the Solitary short via the Live Another Day bluray, which I finally bought. Amazon had a $19 sale, which seems to be the low price point since this bluray is hard to find in stores these days. It seems as if it's going out-of-print.

Anyways, I did notice in the credits for Solitary, the handler that called on the phone was voiced by:

Spoiler:
Xander Berkeley, who played George Mason in the first two seasons

24: Legacy pilot greenlit.

Stephen Hopkins, who directed the original 24 Pilot will direct the Pilot.

Howard Gordon, Evan Katz and Manny Coto will produce.

New hero will be African American

I wish it could've worked where the passed the baton to Yvonne Strahovski.

I really can't see them not having atleast ONE "legacy" character on the show as a regular or recurring role.

So passing on any extension that doesn't include at least some of the originals.

Too bad John Boyega is now huge after Star Wars. He could have been a good lead.

Can't really think of any good young black actors out there who could be the lead.

Michael Ealy could pull it off. But hopefully he as better options at this point.

According to the article, it says there will be mentions of previous characters. Bauer will probably be mentioned. But as of right now, none are expected to be regulars or recurring. But that can always change.

Kiefer has a new show on ABC that got picked up to series for next season, so it's unlikely he could participate in this anyways.

Kiefer will be an Executive Producer on this, but I'm sure that's only a vanity title.

Would he play the same character he played last season or a new character?

It was on Showtime. It wasn't very good at all.

Same here. Strahovski could easily headline this, and it would have served as a natural bridge from the previous era to the post-Sutherland one.

Idris Elba as the new #blackjack!

In all seriousness though, as long as the show has good characters and action, and little to no politics, I think it can succeed. Missing Jack Bauer shouldn't be a huge issue.

Have a few cameos during the season and it should be a respectable spinoff.

I'm very surprised they didn't go that direction. Even the rumor of bringing back Tony made more sense than a whole new cast.

Re: 24 (FOX) -- Season 10 Rumors, News and Speculation -- Coming in 2016?

Not that it's a big deal, but why rename the show with the word "Legacy?" I'm wondering if they're doing that to just tell the audience it's a reboot, or is it supposed to just be a one-off and the producers hope that Sutherland will return to the "original" show at a later date?

I'm cool with a reboot--I think after 15 years, the original characters have had their good, long run. Really happy to see Hopkins is returning. I like his season one directing style more than Cassar.

They can bridge the gap between the original and new one if they went with Gbenga Akinnagbe as the lead. I'd think he'd be a good choice too.

It was good enough for Bourne Legacy... oh, wait... they went back to Jason after that one. There's hope to get Keifer back.
