Re: Helix (SyFy) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 1/16/15
I watched last week's episode and this week's episode last night ...
I was starting to get into it until ... The chase scene in the orchard with the 1970s disco music was completely f***ing stupid.
Is this show nothing more than a drinking game the writers play? "Oh yeah? Well I bet you can't work (insert strange plot device here) into an episode!"

So I just binge-watched the first 6 episodes of the season over the past 2 nights. I love this show....it is off the rails, haha.
One thing I didn't really like is that everyone is acting waaaay out of character from season 1.
The time jump is interesting and I would like to see how things look off the Island since the woman and "do you know the way to san jose" guy have both said the world is basically a mess.
The other thing with the time jump is that they have the obvious opportunity to make all the main cast immortal over the course of the show so I wonder if the story lines will catch up to each other either in this season or the next.

Okay I just watched episode 3 and this show is absolute batshit crazy.
I have at the final scene when Hatake showed Jules her mother and dead brother with the head blown off from season 1. And how the hell would Hatake have been able to preserve his sons body for 30 years? and also transport it from the arctic.
When I have a little time, I'll try to binge watch and get caught up with the season.

I gave up around three or four episodes into this season, though I was never really a Helix fan to begin with. It did seem to have improved from the plodding season one with a jolt of craziness.

Michael handing the poison to that boy was fucking terrifying. Now we got the rescue squad there and the infected waking up. Who knows where we're going next!!

I love this show! I usually wait to watch after I have at least two episodes recorded because one isn't enough.

I'm having a hard time watching this season ... I try, but most episodes aren't holding my attention. Then something out of left field happens (I guess the sword works) and I have to rewind 20 minutes.
Nobody has said it yet, but it has been painfully obvious since the beginning that San Jose guy is

yeah, I agree with the spoiler above. Seems obvious now that we know what Jules is looking for in the future.
I am having a hard time figuring out Alan's brother. Works for Ilaria, doesn't seem to care about his team as he sells out Sarah's baby but at the same time pretends to care about the folks on the island and occasionally cares about his team. He seems like a small fry in Ilaria and I can't figure out his angle, haha.
I love this show.

sweet Jesus this show is amazing in it's absurdity and wtf shock value moments. I truly enjoy every stinking minute of it, while simultaneously hating myself for doing so.

This season was so bizarre, it had hardly any relationship to season 1, like it was a different show. I didn't like it, a more Ilaria focused show would have been better.

Re: Helix (SyFy) -- Season 2 Thread -- Premieres 1/16/15
I found season 2 difficult to watch. (I had the episodes piled up, and watched through them in batches of 3 or 4 episodes). Overall season 2 seemed very messy, with the dual timelines done somewhat poorly.
(I thought 12 Monkeys did the multiple timelines thing a lot better).
In contrast, season 1 of Helix seemed to be easier and more straightforward to watch through. In hindsight imho, season 1 now seems like a "masterpiece" in comparison to the messy season 2.

I agree the time jump was kind of poorly done and actually was largely ignored in the middle of the season only to appear again in the last episode. I assume it was supposed to have more of an affect in season 3, maybe even transitioning to the future and trying to find a cure for the immortal disease.

It really jumped the shark this season but it was a whole lot more fun. A lot of it made little sense, but I watched it just to see what crazy thing they were going to do next.
