I'm a week behind ... Is the creature in the hot tub possibly the best Star Wars reference yet?

I too have been enjoying the references and this season. I loved the Eiger Sanction reference in particular.

great episode and much better than last weeks.
Enlighten me, I missed the Fargo references.

This episode seemed as if it was only 10 minutes long.

Archer has some of the shortest episodes on television. Some of them barely break 20 minutes once you cut out commercials and the intro/ending credits.

The entire episode of them being stuck in the elevator was great

I don't get the end with Mallory's number dialing the elevator phone and why it played a recording of Archer when picked up.

I haven't seen on explanation of it yet. I don't get it either. Only thing I can think of is that the episodes aired out of order, and it's a reference to a later (earlier) episode.

It was a prank by Archer.

Except the prank itself doesn't make sense. Obviously it's the voicemail gag, but it wasn't archer's number.

Yeah, the end confused me. Ray calls Mallory and it rings the elevator, which had a voice mail message from Archer. Initially I assumed that Archer was the one that got them stuck purposely, but their reaction to Mallory seemed counter to that.

Re: Archer (FX) - Season 6 Thread - Premieres 1/8/15

Someone on the Archer subreddit posted a manual to an elevator phone board that looked exactly like the one in this episode. That board has the capability to record and play a "location message" of up to 25 seconds. Presumably the location message plays automatically when the phone line is connected so the responder knows which elevator is calling even if the occupants of the elevator do not. The phone can also be programmed to dial up to two emergency numbers automatically and auto-answer (for speakerphone use).

It doesn't explain why Mallory's number rang the elevator, but the group could have been pissed at him just because he was lying about the phone being out of order.

Yeah, but some episodes just play better than others and seem longer. I think they feel shorter when they jam in multiple unrelated story lines.

I was coming here to ask ... What was the reference?

I thought they had missed another standard when Ray was talking about putting his mouth next to the hole and blowing ... Then they came back from the commercial break with Archer begging to add "Phrasing" "back into the rotation."

All in all, great episode! Even if it didn't accomplish anything.

The TOUCHABLE reference is from the movie The Untouchables. It doesn't really apply to the scene in Archer given its context in the movie, but it was still funny to see it there anyway.

Was anyone else expecting Ray's head to be severed when the elevator started up?

Wasn't it Cyril who said the phone wasn't working? The whole phone thing perplexes me. Other than that, I still loved the episode. It was interesting to see a bottle episode for a cartoon.

I was expecting something - and that it would put him in a wheelchair again.

You're right. I remember Archer shoving him aside, but that happened after he said the phone was dead. Now it makes even less sense.

Well, Allison Tolman guest voicing led to some fooling around. They did have Fargo on the departure board at the airport and the biggest one was the song that plays at the end when it's slowly panning back to Barry is the theme from the Fargo tv show.

I didn't expect Ray's head to get chopped off but I was fully expecting him to lose an arm.

Archer's voice seemed weird to me in this episode; not sure if it was just me. Just an ok episode for me, liked the black mexican joke and Pam.

Pam with the baby was great, as was Cyril getting wrecked.
