Lacey does at least 4-6 Hallmark movies a year. It's basically her career at this point.

I know but as I said I like seeing some new blood in these movies. I think she does a lot of cartoon voice work as well, she was originally Meg on Family Guy.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

I decided to branch out and watched some Hallmark Valentine's movies last month. One from last year with Lacey Chabert was Moonlight in Vermont, and it was pretty much a Christmas movie without the holiday: City person returns to snowy hometown, big event, etc.

This year's movie with Chabert was My Secret Valentine, and it was basically She Loves Me/You've Got Mail in a Hallmark frame. Heroine can't stand the guy, but she has a secret pen pal, etc.

Both were predictable and enjoyable.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

I finally got to rent When Calls the Heart season one from my local Library. I've only watched the first movie so far, but its a very enjoyable frontier Western type of show. The dvds are kind of confusing, the show aired as hour episodes, but on dvd a 12 episode season are edited together to make 6 movies. Than there are the Canadian 10 dvd a piece season sets that include the episodes as aired on hallmark and the movies. I'll watch the whole set than if I like it I might get the Digital releases at some point.

Correct, the show is confusingly put together on DVD.

That was a pretty good one.

We usually seem to focus on the female actress. However in my opinion, a lot of these movies depend on the lead male. The ladies are always attractive and have a lot of personality. Sometimes the guy is attractive, but he's an empty suit. He comes off as wooden and hollow. For the movie to be successful, the guy has to be equally charming.

The male lead in My Secret Valentine and Snowed Inn Christmas was Andrew Walker. He always does a great job. He was also in A Dream of Christmas, Dashing Through The Snow, Date With Love, Bridal Wave, Appetite For Love, A Bride For Christmas and a few others. Those were all good movies.

My coworker has a thing for Walker. He’s also in one of the upcoming spring movies.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

The Hallmark Channel website held a March Madness bracket of 64 Christmas movies. You can see the results here:

This is why democracy doesn't work.

I have to really wonder how many voters had seen more than a handful of Christmas on Hallmark movies. The Christmas Train had no business making it that far in a field of 64. Recency bias.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

That's a fun bracket as Hallmark Channel Vs. Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. There are so many movies its hard to do a bracket of 64, plus Hallmark is probably looking for a reason to show some Christmas movies. I made it through season 1 of When calls the Heart, and I am now on to the season 2 movies.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

I caught up on four seasons of When Calls the Heart from renting the series from my local library. Its a very enjoyable frontier show, it reminds me so much of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. Unfortunately I already know the spoilers for the end of season 5,
Spoiler:
Jack Dies.
That's kind of filled my void of hallmark viewing in the non winter months.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

Candace Cameron Bure, Lacey Chabert return for their SEVENTH Hallmark Christmas movies

Candace Cameron Bure and Lacey Chabert — who each have already starred in six Hallmark holiday movies — will headline their seventh holiday movie for Hallmark Channel later this year, EW has learned exclusively.

Bure will anchor a book adaptation of Beth Harbison’s A Shoe Addict’s Christmas. The Fuller House star plays Noelle, a holiday hater who toils in a department store in which she is accidentally locked on Christmas Eve. There, she meets a woman who identifies herself as Noelle’s guardian angel and introduces her to several “ghosts” of Christmases past, present, and future.

----

Chabert will star in a different book adaption: Pride and Prejudice and Mistletoe, which is based on Melissa de la Cruz’s book of the same name. In a Yuletide-themed, gender-swapping update of the classic Jane Austen novel, Chabert plays Darcy Fitzwilliam, a smart and successful woman who has a glamorous dating life but has not fallen in love. She is also short on Christmas cheer. When her mother becomes sick, though, she returns home, setting in motion a turn of events that could lead to a very happy New Year.

----

Hallmark Channel has also enlisted LeAnn Rimes to star this year in It’s Christmas Eve, in which the singer will perform two of three original songs she penned for the movie. Via Hallmark Channel and sister channel Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, Hallmark will unleash a record 34 Christmas movies starting this fall.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

Does Candace Cameron Bure have a legitimate fan base? Hallmark keeps starring her in their movies. I just learned she's the sister of Kirk Cameron.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

She does a great job in these Hallmark movies. Her Christmas movies are usually one of the best of the season.

And she's a Republican, Christian, married for 20+ years with 3 children, etc. I think that appeals to the Hallmark Channel fanbase.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

I think when she's been in that many movies, her audience becomes self-perpetuating. I'm sure she also has fans from past and current TV.

She's not my favorite, but she's fine. I don't agree with her politics, but as TheBigDave says, that's probably less of a problem with the Hallmark audience, and I don't really worry about it when I'm watching a movie.

There is an upcoming sale on Vudu of Hallmark Movies. The titles have yet to load. It will be a mix and match sale. Cost will be 2 for $9.99. Credit to kidkash at blu-ray forums.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

I admit I've only seen a couple non-holiday Hallmark movies so I'll probably just pick up a couple based on the leads.

Re: Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas

The Magic of Ordinary Days with Keri Russell is fantastic. A handy guide is that Hallmark was firing on all cylinders between 2014 to 2016. The newer movies have just been missing something.

All of My Heart is pretty sweet. The sequel, All of My Heart: Inn Love, isn't very good at all.

If you are buying blind, go with your favorite leads.

Here's a preview of the upcoming Christmas season. It's about 25 minutes long and hosted by Lacey Chabert.

Speaking of Chabert, I believe she has a new Hallmark movie premiering this Saturday.
