Yeah, this was a really solid episode of SNL. Most of the skits were actually funny. And though the "musician" kinda sucked, she was nice eye-candy. This was was even better than the Woody Harrelson episode, which was solid as well.

Definitely the best of this season so far. Even that Waterbed sketch which had the potential to bomb so bad turned out to be decent. Once again, Cecily Strong looked really good. The wedding sketch was my favourite.

I like Charli XCX.

With the Office piece this week and Star Wars last week SNL should learn that filmed bits work better. SCTV knew this 35 years ago. It's so difficult to have actors reading off cue cards and still be funny.

That Gollum impression was sick. Gandalf as David Brent. Priceless.

I had enjoyed Charlie XCX's music, but that performance...? Uhh... her attire for Boom Clap was as provocative as I can recall.

As far as Freeman? The Heinz sketch ruined his entire hosting gig for me. It was downright painful, the obviousness of his reading *every* line off the prompter for that particular scene. Painful.

Still, an excellent episode as far as the writing/cast goes. I'll really miss Thompson when he goes though, as he's the standout by far. Sumpin Clause was hilarious - although sketch of the night goes to the Water Bed. When the giant face drops down, and she pops open the mouth door? Perfect way to cap off a zany segment.

Good episode. The cold open was the strongest in awhile. Jost and Che are getting better. I loved Cecily's Weekend Update character, even though the audience didn't seem to get it. Sasheer's Weekend Update bit was a bit flat... maybe monologues aren't her thing.

I know some hate it, but I think that is a better 'Gwen Stefani song' than the stuff Gwen herself is actually putting out these days.

The Heinz sketch immediately reminded me of the Python bit from Holy Grail where the two guards didn't know how to 'make sure 'e doesn't leave the room.'

I thought Cleese would pop in and claim it was ripping them off then shamelessly promote his new book.
