Pretty good episode. Kind of cool to see the nun pull a Constantine on Constantine. It was also cool to have the nun call Constantine on his BS when it was clear he was trying to get her to do the hand off.

The Zed stuff was odd. I thought the house was protected but I guess leaving the house removed the protection. The way Constantine said it I thought she would be safe while in the house.

Maybe the house was only protected against demons and not against humans?

WTF? Zed gets bored and leaves. So stupid.

Otherwise, another really good episode. Ended on a good note.

I barely understood what was happening in Zed's B-story. This was a pretty good episode, I wonder how they will solve the cliffhanger?

It's either going to be something deep to feed the plot, or a quick save from the angel (or Constantine's partner).

Either way, good way to end an episode.

Ryan's really nailing the character. This is first episode where he really felt like John Constantine to me.

Ryan definitely hasn't been the problem with Constantine. He's turned in a very solid performance and fits the character pretty well. Everything else about the show feels disjointed and very shallowly put together.

Re: Constantine (S1E08) -- "The Saint of Last Resorts" -- 12/12/14

For viewers that had not been keeping up, Constantine was in serious danger from the final five episodes getting shelved.

NBC has provided a stay of execution, as the show’s official Twitter feed has announced Constantine‘s return on January 16th at 8 pm, where the 5 remaining episodes will air.

If the ratings don't improve in the new time slot, it won't be coming back.

Glad to hear the first season will play out. The first episode was pretty good, then it really slacked off for a number of episodes. The last few have gotten progressively better though.

New time slot? Is it just a different time? (I always DVR it and watch it later, so I don't even know when it is on other than Friday nights.)

Re: Constantine (S1E08) -- "The Saint of Last Resorts" -- 12/12/14

Will that actually make any difference? I guess I've never really paid attention to when something was on. If I wanted to watch it, I would watch it. I certainly didn't rearrange my life around getting to watch something.

This is an interesting concept in the age we live in now. We are still tying a show's level of success to the time slot a show occupies despite the prevalence of time shifting technology, streaming/on demand capabilities, and even "full dump" schedules utilized by the "online networks" (i.e., Netflix and Amazon). How accurate are ratings compared to a show's actual reach?

Re: Constantine (S1E08) -- "The Saint of Last Resorts" -- 12/12/14

As alluded before, the show is probably dead anyway unless a miracle occurs. NBC keeps sticking genre shows on Friday night at 10 PM and they keep dying. Dracula was a good series for its genre, it almost certainly would have survived on a different network and at a different time. Constantine was not quite as good but probably would have done better in a different slot as well.

Same here. I almost never watch anything as it airs. I DVR and watch later.

I was hoping we might get a Spectre and/or Phantom Stranger spin-off series, but that seems extremely unlikely now.

Excellent mid-season final?! episode of Constantine; as always, liked the horror elements - especially the monster/demon sister n. - quite creepy. And, that thing that was creeping around the sewers without a face reminded me of one of the creatures in one of my favorite horror flicks, Silent Hill (2006)...Liked the cliff-hanger as well....

The Invunche first appeared in Alan Moore's Swamp Thing (in a storyline that introduced John Constantine, also Moore's creation), a good 20 years before the Silent Hill movie.

Good to know - Thanks. I recently bought a Hellblazer TPB from 2011, reprinting the early comics - I'll have to look to see if that story is in there...
