I sorta hated this episode. Does Castiel not have anymore angel powers?

It's finally picking up a little momentum this season, but the show is stuck inside of its own mythology, it needs a kick in ass of some sort if it wants to get a second lease on life now that it's this long in the tooth.

It actually raised a salient point about the angels possessing human hosts and destroying their lives. I think the producers are simply playing out the string at this point.

I didn't really care too much about that as they proved with Ruby that there are people out there with no quality of life that can be possessed.

Yeah but the angels can't posses anyone unless they give their approval. Just because they have a crappy life doesn't mean they'll want to be possessed.

I actually liked the Castiel stuff but I thought the writing was kind of poor in the "lets just get something going" type of way that backfires.

The notion of hating your life so much that you're willing to give it over to another entity for the purposes of its cause or simply because you no longer care about your own is kind of interesting. I guess it easier for demons to take someone at rock bottom because they wouldn't fight much.

Although he's "dead" on the show, I kicked off Year Two of my TV Guidance Counselor Podcast right with a great first guest of 2015, Jim Beaver aka Bobby. Fascinating guy and I really enjoyed talking to him. iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/...st/id821665905

I had a new appreciation for Bobby after recently watching Deadwood.

Deadwood is his favorite show of all time. He has some good info about it in the interview. He'd watch it even if it wasn't on it.

He's also a major film scholar/fan, he's one of us!
