First "Family Guy", now "Futurama". I know they kind of put a tongue-in-cheek lampshade over this, but is The Simpsons having ratings problems or something?

Well, the Family Guy crossover was an episode of Family Guy, technically.

And the Futurama crossover is something that fans have wanted for years. And I don't know how much a show that's been canceled by both FOX and Comedy Central is going to help the ratings for a show that's been on for 25 years.

That, and The Simpsons are pretty much ratings-proof. They are making so much money off the franchise at this point that every new episode is like printing another sheet.

Yeah I view the crossover as a sort of parting gift for fans of Futurma. The show was cancelled twice as was mentioned and this crossover has been wanted by fans of both shows for years. Seems like now is as good a time as any to finally do it after Futurama has ended once again.

I think the only thing that will kill the Simpsons is if one of the six main voice actors retires or dies.

Yeah at this point I really do wonder how long the series is going to keep going on. Its still going pretty strong after all this time. I wonder if there is an end in sight or if the show will just go on as long as the cast and crew can keep going.

Re: The Simpsons (S26E5)- "Simpsorama"- 11/9/2014

Have been waiting for this crossover for so long. Can't believe it's finally happening tonight. The Simpsons has had its highs and lows, but lately it seems pretty consistent, although obviously not at the level of the earliest seasons.

I really hope there is an end game in mind for this show. I don't know how feasible it is, but it would be great if they had the main cast record lines for a series finale in case someone should pass away prematurely. Surely that has to have at least been an idea tossed around behind the scenes?

I think that's the only way that they'll stop the show. I have enjoyed this season episodes, the best being the Treehouse of Horror.

Except for the first episode, I think this season has been firing on all cylinders. I laughed out loud quite a few times last week.

Shouldn't this be episode 6?

Dammit. I changed the episode number in my post but not the thread title. I'll edit that!

If you don't correct within 15 minutes a mod has to do it.

Re: The Simpsons (S26E6)- "Simpsorama"- 11/9/2014

I thought it was a great episode and am so glad we finally got to see this crossover happen. They made great use of both sets of characters in the very limited screen time. I think keeping it to a half-hour was a smart decision since it didn't feel like it overstayed its welcome. The use of music from both shows was also very effective. Great mash-ups in the opening couch gag and end credits. I liked the way they worked in a number of characters through the "video updates" versus trying to have everyone come face-to-face with their counterparts. Does anyone else think the use of rabbits was a subtle reference to Matt Groening's earlier work on the Life in Hell series?
Some Highlights:

-Lisa and Bart pointing out that Bender is basically Homer with an antenna.
-The origin of the mutant rabbits.
-Scruffy without his mustache.
-Lrr and Ndnd meeting Kang and Kodos and the accompanying gender joke in reference to the latter pair.
-Bender "paying" for drinks in the bar.
-Seymour being loyal to Fry no matter the time or show.
-Lisa playing a holosaxaphone.

EDIT: While I enjoyed the Family Guy/Simpsons crossover a lot, I think this one was a lot better. It had a better story, felt more natural, and had a good heart (something The Simpsons and Futurama have always excelled in). Saved it on my DVR to revisit again in the near future.

Holy shit that was awesome! I stopped watching awhile ago and onlt tuned in because of Futurama but Im going to give it another shot. One of the best crossovers ever.

With that said I give this episode two thumbs down cause of that dog missing Fry.

Re: The Simpsons (S26E6)- "Simpsorama"- 11/9/2014

Enjoyed the episode.. but it felt bittersweet to me.. I miss Futurama and felt they could have kept going. Oh well.. it was nice to have it return twice and ended its run with a well done episode.

Nice nods from the show in this episode.. Fry's dog, hypnotoad, etc.

That's what happens when you get a massive lead-in (NFL) for half your episodes so far.

I liked the joke about freemium games too, especially given Tapped Out just had an update with Matt Groening and the mutant rabbit as characters to tie in with this episode. Found The Simpsons brief joke about freemium gaming a lot funnier and more effective than the entire South Park episode devoted to the games.

There were one or two that were straight up from Life in Hell.

Can you say what the others were? I never read the comics, just perused some of them online a while back.

Binky was in the first scene of the rabbits. He was the one spray-painting, "Crossovers are Hell".

I really enjoyed this episode.

This was a great! Makes me wish Futurama was still on air. Full of injokes throughout the episode.
