"Reichenbach" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, DLV) (HDTV)

CROWLEY TELLS DEAN THE MARK NEEDS TO BE FED - Crowley (Mark Sheppard) notices Dean (Jensen Ackles) is becoming more and more aggressive. Dean tells him that's the side effect of being a demon, but Crowley knows it's something more - the Mark of Cain needs to be fed. Meanwhile, Sam (Jared Padalecki) is captured by Cole (guest star Travis Aaron Wade), an angry man who blames Dean for his father's death years ago and wants revenge. Cole tortures Sam, hoping he'll tell him where Dean is hiding. Hannah (guest star Erica Carroll) sees how weak Castiel (Misha Collins) is becoming as his grace continues to fade, so she makes a bold choice and asks Metatron (guest star Curtis Armstrong) for help. Thomas J. Wright directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb (#1003). Original airdate 10/14/2014.

This season has been boring as hell so far.

I'm liking the start of this season. Demon Dean is fun to watch.

So one thing I'm not clear on is when did Dean kill the father of the hunter guy and why did he do it? Was Dean killing random people in the past?

He killed him in 2003 (it was on the screen prior to the scene) and we have no idea why. I give him the benefit of the doubt and assume the dad was a vampire or shapeshifter or such.

This demon Dean storyline is going nowhere fast. I would've totally been up for a season of Dean / Crowley bromance adventures but what they've done is idioitic. We know the demon part will get exercised so why not have fun? Instead they go this route. This is definitely the weakest starting season since season 6.

On the one hand, yeah, they seem to be squandering a lot of potential here. But on the other, they've already gone down the evil-Winchester-brother-on-the-loose road with soulless Sam, so they risk retreading that.

Sam's arm in a sling is really bothering me too. Given what these guys bounce back from in any given episode to the next it really kills my suspension of disbelief. And that's saying a lot given I'm totally OK with no one batting an eye at an FBI agent driving around in an Uncle Jesse truck.

Though I just looked up who put his arm in that brace and find that as entertaining as anything on the show so far. :)

I actually think this season is starting out ok so far. Demon Dean has been entertaining and I'm curious where the storyline with the new guy goes. Though hopefully they don't just turn him into another Gordon. I don't think there going to exercise the demon from Dean for a little while yet. Crowley keeping the first blade will probably have something to do with the demon not leaving Dean.

So, yeah... I love this show. Absolutely, positively love it. The photo above is exactly why, too - well that, and as a hardcore supernatural genre fanboy.

Even so, this season just ain't doing it for me. I've always enjoyed the fact it's stuck with the season-long arc, even when that year's big bad has been lacking. You get great standalones, but also several episodes that would make no sense if you hadn't been watching... allowing them to build and develop depth to one particular story each year.

This one? Ain't even remotely comparable. Obviously, something else has got to spring up when you already know the "demon fix" - human blood. The fact that, after all this show developed demons to be (remember yellow eyes? The writers don't seem to.), a demon cure exists beside the point, the fact we've already got an easy out solution is weak. Of course, they'll probably make it so the Mark = Dean's no ordinary demon = human blood don't work.

I'm also *really* hating what they've done to demons. My God, yellow eyes? And now the goddamn show is making a buddy comedy out of the King of Hell?! Worse, they consort with Angels/God's replacement Castiel one second, then Lucifer's the next? These guys are supposedly hunters? What the f*** is more evil/bad/die, die, die! than goddamned demons? The King of Hell?!

Then, lastly going back to some of that older content? I get Jeffrey Morgan is obviously an unappreciative jackass (both from simple reality of literally calling it in one single time for the show that restarted his career, and a few things I've read years back), but it drives me insane these guys get resurrected to no end -are best buds with God2.0 and Satan2.0, meaning no matter where they end up, you've got an inside man- and yet John is still entirely MIA. Without even an explanation why he can't come back. Or to a lesser extent, anyone that's ever died.

It also seems retarded that, now he's a demon, no mention gets made to Dean having formerly been a tormenter of Hell one of the last times he "died."

Finally, returning to this season's big plot: This show does seem to be suffering from being too good, thusly surviving far longer than anyone could have *ever* imagined. We've beat Lucifer. Overthrown heaven. Now best buds with Hell and Heaven both. Where on earth do you go from there? There's absolutely no room whatsoever to expand any further. What's even the point of hunting anymore? You've got all Heaven's angels and all Hell's demons on call, by your side, owing to your connections with Cas and Crowley.

Still love the show, always will, but it definitely isn't at its peak right now.

Death could show up again. He's always fun :D.

You're right that they kind of exhausted the mythology, but if they wrap up all of the angel stuff this season, maybe they could find some way to shake things up next year? Move the locale to another continent or something?
