I continue to love the show. It's a great mix of noir and comic book. Looking forward to see what they do with the new girl Fish hired.

Is Fish a lesbian? Why is she hiring these people, checking to see how sociopathic they are because she wants them to be able to do her evil bidding or something?
What kind of an idiot lets a stranger walk up to him and go "hey, look at this object I designed, put it in your eye?" And if a hitman murdered somebody, why did he leave the body in the damned apartment?

Liza who won the job was played by Makenzie Leigh - known for the movie - Girls Against Boys (2012) and TV Series - Deception (2013) and an episode of The Good Wife (2009). Lucille Sharp played the other singer - no name given - she played Liz Todd Burton in the TV movie - Burton and Liz (2013) and was in a couple of TV episodes of Downtown Abby as Reed (2012).

much better than the last 2 episodes. I think the stories flowed better this week.
Good mix of crime of the week plot and some of the underlying stories.
Wow, it didn't even cross my mind that Don Marrone was Ahn-Hell from Dexter. Missing the mustache threw me off.
I enjoyed seeing Penguin do his dirty work in order to advance in the crime world including using those idiots for the robbery and murder of the restaurant manager. Of course the cannoli's were poisoned.

The problem I think is that Bruce is too young. He will never be Batman unless they jump ahead in future seasons but I suspect because of the movies they are never allowed to show him as Batman. I actually really like it so far, but they could call it Penguin and not be too far off the mark so far. Seems there has to be some momentum at some point.

Fish Mooney isn't in the comics, she's an original character for the series.
Bullock, Gordon's partner, has a very convoluted background in the comics. Depending on the era, or the story, he's been both good and bad, honorable and corrupt. So there's no telling at this point which way they'll go in the series, though it looks like they're heading in the heroic direction.

Jada with some girl on girl action. Not shocked based on the stories I've heard...

The best thing they're doing with young Bruce is building up his detective skills. That's the one thing that none of the theatrical versions of Batman have shown - he's not just a vigilante hero, he's the "world's greatest detective", and I'm happy to see the series addressing that training.

Is Liza supposed to be someone important? I was thinking Black Canary but she is a bit older than Bruce.
I actually liked this ep., but I would think hired hitmen would know better than to eat cannoli offered from a gangster. Mafia movies always make it clear they're poisoned.

This one was kind of boring to me; the hitman plot just wasn't doing it for me, and thought it was too predictable and typical as far as a random guy in prison giving them a name that led Gordon and Bullock straight to him. Plus that scene where they look for him at his desk was pretty bad, down to the woman screaming about paper clips.

Mayor: why don't you shoot him?
Gordon: he's got my gun.
Yet both Gordon and Bullock shoot the assassin?
And I like the show. Don't love it, but it's got my interest.

Gladwell (bad guy) then enters the room a few minutes later and Gordon surprises him by nailing him with one of the chairs.
Gladwell drops the gun and we see Gordon kicking it across the room.
They fight for a while and just as Gladwell was going to stab Gordon with that weapon, Bullock comes in and saids stop it or I'll shoot.
Gladwell backs away from Gordon and we then see Gordon reach for his gun which is near him.
Gladwell then sees Mayor James and goes after him which is when Gordon/Bullock both shoot Gladwell.

I like this show, I don't love it. As I expected, the lack of Batman in any capacity puts a severe constraint on its potential. I have been surprised by the Penguin, I think he's been the primary reason to watch this show and the actor is doing a great job. I also like how they haven't turned Gordon into a supercop. He's been a surprisingly human protagonist for this type of genre fare.
I don't see much talent in the kid playing Bruce Wayne. He doesn't look particularly natural in his scenes. I do like how they are laying the groundwork for his later career, though it seems very strange for a cop to repeatedly discuss his work with a 13-year-old kid. I actually thought they would have made Bruce a more primary character by now. I guess the kids will only show up when absolutely necessary.
