LAPD'S THREAT ASSESSMENT UNIT'S LT. BETH DAVIS AND DET. JACK LARSEN SEARCH FOR A STALKER WITH AN AFFINITY FOR FIRE, IN THE SERIES PREMIERE OF THE NEW PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER "STALKER," WEDNESDAY, OCT. 1 "Pilot" - LAPD's Threat Assessment Unit's Lt. Beth Davis and Det. Jack Larsen search for a stalker with an affinity for fire. Also, Beth meets with an exasperated college student who claims his former roommate is aggressively harassing him, on the series premiere of STALKER Wednesday, Oct. 1 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. STALKER stars Maggie Q and Golden Globe Award winner Dylan McDermott in a psychological thriller about detectives who delve into the minds of stalkers to protect their targets from future incidents - including voyeurism, cyber harassment and romantic fixation - for the Threat Assessment Unit of the LAPD. Det. Jack Larsen is a recent transfer to the Unit from New York City's homicide division, whose confidence, strong personality and questionable behavior has landed him in trouble before - but also may prove valuable in his new job. His boss, Lt. Beth Davis, is strong, focused and an expert in the field, driven by her traumatic personal experience as a victim. Other team members include young but eager Det. Ben Caldwell, deceptively smart Det. Janice Lawrence and District Attorney Amanda Taylor who is trying to erase her painful past with Larsen. With their help, Davis and Larsen assess the threat level of cases and respond before the stalking and intimidation spirals out of control, all while trying to keep their personal obsessions at bay. REGULAR CAST: Maggie Q (Lieutenant Beth Davis) Dylan McDermott (Detective Jack Larsen) Victor Rasuk (Detective Ben Caldwell) Mariana Klaveno (Detective Janice Lawrence) Elisabeth Röhm (Amanda Taylor) RECURRING CAST: Erik Stocklin (Perry) Chelsea Harris (Belle) GUEST CAST: Melanie Liburd (Lori) Torrey DeVitto (Kate) Michael Grant Terry (Kurt) Eric Lange (Larry) Audrey Wasilewski (Ellen) Daren Kagasoff (Eric) Merle Dandridge (Dean Lisa Miner) Alano Miller (Troy) John M. Jackson (Douglas Jeffries) James S. W. Lee (Rick) MichaelChristianAlexander (Officer) Ayo Sorrells (Sid Tech) Ty Chen (Student # 1) Danielle Argyros (Student # 2) WRITTEN BY: Kevin Williamson DIRECTED BY: Liz Friedlander Trailer: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/t0h_zhv9Q_w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The creator and showrunner is Kevin Williamson from The Following. He left The Following to develop this show. Loved Maggie Q from her days on Nikita. Gets an automatic watch and it's after Criminal Minds, which I already watch. I know this show probably isn't going to be very popular in this forum since it's a crime procedural. But hell, maybe we'll have some crazy commentary like with The Following. :D |
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
Reviews have not been kind to this. Probably won't be tuning in.

Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
Wonder how many Nikita fans will tune in tonight, and view this show as "season 5" of Nikita. ;)

Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
The pilot episode seemed like a disjointed info dump.
It didn't really grab my attention. Kinda on the boring side. |
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
Hasn't aired on the West coast yet
Maggie Q was on CBS this morning promoting the show. She's been plugging it on several talk shows this week. She is absolutely stunning and really articulate. I loved her in Nikita, but I've been a fan of hers since she worked in Hong Kong. She seemed pretty into the subject matter that this procedural deals with. She said that she herself was also a victim of stalking She said that was one of the reasons why she took this series. I'm not surprised that the TV critics haven't been kind to this. Dark and violent crime shows like this never seem to resonate with TV critics. Criminal Minds, which is this shows lead-in, also got heavily criticized & trashed by critics because of it's violence, but was a surprise hit and amazingly is in season 10. Being an OTA show as opposed to a cable drama makes it bound to be scrutinized as well. |
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
Hopefully the second (and subsequent) episodes will be less disjointed.
Even The Following kept my attention longer, in spite of its shortcomings and cheesiness. |
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
I though it was OK. Not great. I tuned in as a fan of Scream and liked Kevin Williamson paying homage to it in the beginning of the episode.
I can see this pretty much being the same thing every week. |

Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
Meh. I have enough shows to watch. I really don't to watch a show where women are doused with gasoline and burned alive. Most of these CBS procedurals are filled with victimized women to begin with and the whole theme of this show seems designed to just show more stuff like that every week.
And the female lead was a stalking victim and the male lead is a stalker? Just ugh. I wonder what happened to Dylan McDermott's career that he can only play creepy guys now. Wasn't he a good guy on the Practice? |
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
Aren't most police procedurals basically torture porn these days?
|
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
Does Brooklyn Nine-Nine count?

Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
I just finished watching it.
Creepy and exploitative are definitely good words to describe it. It's a good companion for Criminal Minds given it's subject matter. I can see how some would be turned off or offended by it. Wasn't that surprised who the Stalker of the week turned out to be. The mask and pouring gasoline on the victims was pretty creepy. This Unit of the LAPD is actually a real unit. The Leader is also a Consultant on the show. Here's a report that aired last night on the local LA CBS affiliate about the show and the leader of the Unit. I can't embed the video. http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/video...official-says/  at McDermott's character also being a stalker. That's a typical Kevin Williamson move considering the stuff he's pulled on The Following. I was also wondering why the leader of a LAPD unit was wearing low cut blouse exposing her cleavage and bra and then McDermott's character asked her about it at the end. |
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
For DVR conflicts, CBS is repeating it on Saturday Night.

Stalker was picked up for a full season today. Now, on to the series. Who has been keeping up with this? It's pretty much a Stalker of the week procedural. But, they have a few recurring storylines. It's definitely geared to those who watch Criminal Minds and were fans of The Following. McDermott's character is himself a stalker and stalking his ex-wife, who happens to be an ADA and working with the LAPD. Maggie Q's character, Beth Davis, was revealed in the last episode to be using an alias. Apparently Beth Davis did not exist before she enlisted in the academy. So, it looks like she's on the run for someone. The creepy guy who she beat up in the Pilot is currently the mystery guy dating her friend. I've enjoyed it although it's pretty by the numbers. |
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
The pacing on this show seems kinda slow.

Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
I want Amanda to kill Jack so much!!!

Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
Apparently Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott are a real life couple.

Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
So I spent last night getting caught up and now I am.
McDermott's character Jack is no longer a weirdo stalker. That whole plot was sort of resolved 2 episodes ago. Amanda and Jack are on better terms now and Jack told Beth the truth as well. I'm glad they didn't drag that out. Q's character Beth Davis is the one who is apparently being stalked and by the weirdo guy from the Pilot who is apparently dating her best friend. That last episode did have a creepy ending. It's a Stalker of the Week crime procedural, but I've been entertained by it. |
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
I usually watch 2 or so episodes on demand on a slow weekend or late afternoon here and there. Maybe I'm missing one. Is ok but not something I look forward to viewing live.

Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
On March 4, 2015, Stalker is being dumped and replaced with CSI Cyber in the Wednesday 10pm time slot.
http://deadline.com/2014/12/battle-c...bs-1201309990/ No word on when the remaining Stalker episodes will be aired. |
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Season 1 Thread - S: Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott -- Premieres 10/1/
Jeez, another CSI. I thought that was over with.
|
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Series Thread
My wife liked the show and wonders when or if they'll air the remaining episodes. I thought it showed promise but delivered poorly, no shock that it was pulled.

Re: Stalker (CBS) - Series Thread
I would love to see those last three episodes, but it's pretty clear where they are headed. Ending the current story line involving Beth's past (stalker dead or jailed) and then moving on with a straight procedural. And putting the two leads together romantically. But that's if it's renewed, which I doubt will happen.

Re: Stalker (CBS) - Series Thread
love this show.
|
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Series Thread
new episode tonight... sad this is likely dead.
|
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Series Thread
I noticed it popped back up on my DVR schedule. I thought it was confirmed as cancelled, but I am glad they are at least showing the last episodes. It was just starting to get good with everybody now in on Beth's past.

Here's an interview with Kevin Williamson, Stalker's showrunner, about last night's episode and the show's future. He's "cautiously optimistic" about the show's chances of coming back. The ratings were actually up 17% last night http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/201...n-flat/395437/ CBS IMO should cancel CSI Cyber and bring this one back. Cyber's ratings have been disappointing and have gone down with each episode. |
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Series Thread
For anyone who cares tonight is the series finale.
CBS cancelled this last week. A SEARCH FOR AN ELUSIVE SERIAL KILLER LEADS THE TAU TO A SHOCKING REVELATION, ON THE SUSPENSEFUL FIRST SEASON FINALE OF "STALKER," MONDAY, MAY 18 "Love Kills" - A search for an elusive serial killer leads the TAU to a shocking revelation. Also, Vicky learns some startling information about her ex-husband, on the suspenseful first season finale of STALKER Monday, May 18 (9:00-9:59 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. REGULAR CAST: Maggie Q (Lieutenant Beth Davis) Dylan McDermott (Detective Jack Larsen) Victor Rasuk (Detective Ben Caldwell) Mariana Klaveno (Detective Janice Lawrence) Elisabeth Rohm (Amanda Taylor) RECURRING CAST: Warren Kole (Trent) Mira Sorvino (Vicky Gregg) GUEST CAST: Kristoffer Polaha (Nathan) Billy Malone (Stan) Adam Kaufman (Will) Michael Cassidy (Brian) Katerina Graham (Christine) Jessica Camacho (Eva) Sam Witwer (Jamie) Dar Dixon (Lawyer) Anthony Giangrande (Charlie) Steve Humphreys (Tattoo Artist) WRITTEN BY: Kevin Williamson and Dewayne Jones DIRECTED BY: Liz Friedlander 2 Kevin Williamson shows cancelled in the same season and ending on the same night. How about that. I hope he gets another chance to develop another series. I've always liked his work. Maybe the networks weren't the right people for his work to be showcased on. |
Re: Stalker (CBS) - Series Thread
Of course, end with an unresolved cliffhanger. They need all shows to now film two endings per season to prepare for things like this.
