Yeah, I wonder if they are killing off anyone significant? The last one was Maude Flanders.

Honestly I wouldn't think so but then again who really knows. A recurring character seems to be a given but I have to think it won't be any of the major characters. Especially given that they just lost a pretty major character in Ms. Krabappel due to the real life death of Marcia Wallace.

Isn't this the episode where
Spoiler:
Bender goes back in time and
kills
Spoiler:
Bart?

Why not kill off Krabbapple?

The previews they've been showing during football all day may have unintentionally narrowed down the possible characters.

They wrote off her character already in season twenty-five. We didn't see her death on screen but it showed a flashback of her and Flanders and it cut to Ned looking at her picture saying he missed her and then Nelson came up to the window and said "haha, I miss her too". Plus they probably didn't want it perceived that they were making a joke out of the real life death of Marcia Wallace.

That, and it's out of respect for the actor. Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz were simply retired after Phil Hartman was killed. There's never been any mention of them in the show after Season 10's "Bart the Mother."

Both McClure and Hutz appear in The Simpsons Comics still. I haven't read them in years but I'm sure Krabappel will as well.

Fuck do I miss Hartman. He was so great both on The Simpsons and his various other shows/films. Troy McClure is one of my all time favorite characters on the show.

That was just a weak episode all around.

With the worst couch gag ever.

I actually liked the couch gag.

Is Lisa still supposed to be a Buddhist?

Don Hertzfeldt animated the couch gag.

I thought this was a pretty lame episode, to be honest. Whoever did Rodney Dangerfield in Jew Heaven didn't do him any justice (especially since he had already been on the show years ago). I was initially expecting a major supporting character, but the commercials this afternoon spoiled it by automatically narrowing down to someone of the Jewish faith. I knew they wouldn't kill off Krusty, so his father is who I had assumed was going to go.

The Comic Book Guy line was cut from the funeral, too. I wonder why.

I loved the couch gag, halfway through I stopped laughing and got overwhelmed by the idea of eternity to the point I nearly had a panic attack.

Pretty awful episode. Total waste of Sideshow Bob. Actually didn't realize Jackie Mason was still alive.

Yeah, and a wasted opportunity of David Hyde Pierce being able to reprise Cecil. Was that actually Neil Simon as the voice of the director?

So pissed that I had to watch this instead of Once Upon a Time. Just proves to me why I don't watch this show anymore. Total waste of time and that couch gag lasted way too long.

I thought the episode was fine. Not a classic or anything, but certainly not awful. Although, while I like Krusty fine, I don't care for Krusty-centered episodes. The b-story, with Lisa worried about Homer, had potential, but it went flat.

Re: The Simpsons (S26E1)- "Clown in the Dumps"- 9/28/2014

I didn't think it was awful like a lot of people in here seem to. It was a bit weak for a season premiere but overall I thought it was decent. Krusty's dad being the one who died was predicted a while back I believe by some online so that didn't surprise me even though I didn't know for sure. The couch gag was weird but also sort of cool. I too liked Lisa worrying about Homer but I felt like more could have been done with it.

Re: The Simpsons (S26E1)- "Clown in the Dumps"- 9/28/2014

It was a pretty bad episode since it was so mild and nothing we really hadn't seen before. Krusty-centered episodes are so predictable now, the writers seem scared to death to move beyond his character traits from 15 years ago. I felt like every single joke had been done before during a previous Krusty episode.

I was not a fan of the couch gag. They've lost their charm as they get more and more complicated.

the best part was the couch gag.
