Re: Hell on Wheels (AMC) -- Season 4 Thread -- Saturdays starting 8/2/14

I guess that is one way to look at it. I didn't buy the Swede's confession in public like that at all, especially in front of all the Mormons. If he survives that, I will stop watching the series for good. I was getting pretty bored with life inside the Mormon compound, hopefully that is over for the foreseeable future.

Bohannon vs the "new law" has the potential to be epic.

Yeah, I pretty much expect him to either escape or be tossed out and then make his way to Cheyenne and try to kill Bohannon, who will in turn kill him and then face trial.

...and after Bohannon is tried and convicted, the Swede will turn up alive, posing as the warden of whatever prison Bohannon gets shipped off to.

Re: Hell on Wheels (AMC) -- Season 4 Thread -- Saturdays starting 8/2/14

I thought last nights episode was pretty good. They set up Bohannon vs the new law rather quickly and Ruth poorly trying to hide her affection for Bohannon. I'm guessing this will lead to Bohannon and Durant working together again. I know there is a lot of hate for The Swede, but the one character I would love to see done away with is Eva. I'm not sure where they are trying to take her character, but I pretty bored by whatever they are trying to do with her. At this point I would rather have more scenes with Ruth or the Ellison lady.

Then you are going to hate the previews for next week.

Looking that way after just one episode with Bohannon back in Cheyenne.

I've been dreading it since the previous episode so that preview left me none too pleased.

Am I the only one thinking (hoping?) that Naomi will come out of her shell and start kicking ass on Cullen's behalf?

EDIT: Not physically kicking ass, Jackie Chan-style, although I guess that'd be cool, too.

Re: Hell on Wheels (AMC) -- Season 4 Thread -- Saturdays starting 8/2/14

So it seems a certainty that Elam will come back for at least a few episodes, they've spent too much screen time on his "death" to waste him. I guess budget issues forced them to cut Common's appearances down.

I never liked Ruth fawning over Bohannon, that storyline always felt like a dead end. I did enjoy Bohannon back in town, they kept him around the Mormon camp too long.

I hope so and I cant wait. Bohannon always takes charge on way or another.
He's already dont it with re-routing the tracks. Not long before he sends the new law packing either by foot or coffin.

Re: Hell on Wheels (AMC) -- Season 4 Thread -- Saturdays starting 8/2/14

That was one of the best Hell on Wheels episodes of its entire run (8/30 episode).

Spoiler:
Don't fuck with Mickey.

Also, spoiler from next week's preview...:

Spoiler:
It's about damn time we find out what a happened to Elam.

So is this the season where everyone gets beat up? No one seems safe this season.

Also, this is more like the HOW that I really enjoy. Great season so far. Can't wait to see Cullen start "fixing" the town.

I felt quite the opposite. Aside from the shoot out in the store, I was annoyed by any scene involving Sydney. I think the only purpose it served was to possibly push Naomi more into leaving Cheyenne, which I think will ultimately happen. But anything involving Durant and Mickey were great. Loved the scene with Durant sitting and reading the paper while that building was being ripped apart. I actually laughed my ass off during that scene.

Next weeks episode looks pretty good though.

Re: Hell on Wheels (AMC) -- Season 4 Thread -- Saturdays starting 8/2/14

This show would be a lot better if they weren't afraid to kill off characters. The Swede should of died several seasons ago, yet they still find ways to keep him alive. It's getting really irritating. And as much as I like Elam, and will be glad once he returns, it just shows again how unwilling they are to kill off characters.

I didn't know that character was coming back until now.

As for
Spoiler:
Elam,
based on the preview, I think he'll return just to be killed off in that very same episode.

I wonder if we'll ever get the real story as to why they killed off Lilly Bell. So Eva is becoming a professional cardshark.

Finally caught up on this season. Really glad it came back.
Is it me or did Robin McLeavy (Eva) boobs get smaller this season. She's almost flat-chested.

It looks like she's lost some weight since the first season. You can always bank on foreign actresses losing whatever fat they had when they hit Hollywood.

I'm liking The Swede's story more now as its mimicking Bohannan's in a way. At least if he's allowed to continue as bishop because of the good progress he makes building their railroad. Similar to Bohannan basically getting away with murder and hired because of the good progress he could make building the railroad in the first season.

Well, that was a very strange comeback episode for you know who. It didn't even feel like the same series, everything about it was different. Did Terrence Malick guest-direct this episode or something?

Re: Hell on Wheels (AMC) -- Season 4 Thread -- Saturdays starting 8/2/14

Speaking about it in the open now is fine since it has aired. Indeed a strange episode. Not one of my favorites, but it does set a foundation for some increased drama. In addition to the natural conflict between a white slave-owning Southerner and the black man he calls friend, brain damage will now be added into the equation.

Yeah, like the finale of season 2, when they killed off 3/4 of the town and burnt it to the ground.

I enjoyed the episode but it sure was an odd one. Didn't like that they offed the trader. He wasn't a major character but I'll miss him calling Elam sourpuss.

Anyone noticed that crazy Phrenologist soldier was in this episode and survived the Comanche assault? I'm guessing he'll make an appearance next week.

What do you mean? Was the actress unhappy with the show?
