American Pickers

I did a quick search and didn't find any threads on this show. Does anyone enjoy American Pickers as much as me? Yeah, it's basically the same thing every episode and occasionally it feels contrived (as does all reality TV), but I really enjoy seeing what treasures they find, some of the interesting people that they pick, and how much money certain junk can be worth.

I wish they'd drop Danielle though. She seems like she's "acting" anytime she's on camera and she's not very good at it.

My gf really likes this show. I still watch it but it grew old on me a few seasons back. I probably wouldn't record it anymore if it wasn't for her. The thing I do like about the show is that even after all the years it's been on, it hasn't really become overly scripted. You still get the stupid Subway commercial during it but the dealings with people seem genuine.

Frank isn't returning to American Pickers. He's feuding with Mike. https://tvline.com/2021/07/21/americ...d-controversy/

Saw this news pop up. Kind of funny too as I randomly was watching an episode of Pawn Stars on Saturday night, which I rarely watch anymore.

During the commercials I had seen American Pickers advertised, which I used to watch, but also fell off of, and noticed that Frank wasn’t shown. So I did a search and found he had been off for a while.

Now a couple days later it surprises me to learn that Mike and Frank no longer talk. I always thought their chemistry seemed pretty genuine.

I still watch this, and the last update they gave out on the show was Frank injured his back.
Kind of surprised by this too.
But Robbie has been in pretty much every episode without Frank. I always liked Robbie and don't mind seeing him more.

Frank mentions Aerosmith in the article and I wonder if it had anything to do with that. They found the bands original tour van. Before they made it big. And when they presented it to them, Frank was like a third wheel in the background from what I remember. Daniel talked to them more than Frank. I think the mechanic they use all the time that restored it was there too.

It was good up until a few years back. Once they started putting Danielle more and more into the show, I stopped watching it. I can't stand her.

I remember seeing Mike alone on the cover of some magazine a few years ago and they did an entire cover story on him and his business. I remember getting the sense that The History Channel was going to start pushing him more into the forefront and pull Frank back. Then they started adding Danielle in more and more and I figured it was only a matter of time until something like this happened. I guess Frank’s back surgery was the final nail in the coffin.

It kind of seemed like for a while when I was still a regular viewer that History was pushing Mike as more of the star of the show. I’m not sure, but isn’t Antique Archeology actually his business, and I think everyone else on the show was just employed by him? I thought Frank was the number two guy in the business, but maybe not.

As mentioned it seems like Frank’s health issues are what led to his departure. Still though I always got the sense that Mike and Frank were friends that went back quite a ways. Maybe too much time around each other hurt their friendship. Too bad as they were a good duo.

Personally I didn’t mind every so often when Danielle was involved. Robbie is okay too, but I would prefer Frank over him.

Mike is in the midst of getting divorced from his wife of 9+ years, Jodi. He's reportedly dating Leticia Cline (pictured below), who was on "Beauty and the Geek", in 2008. Wolfe is 57. Cline is 42.

Assuming it was the truth, I seem to recall an episode or two where Mike and Frank mention that they went to the same school growing up but didn’t really hang out together. Then as adults they came together because of their shared interest in antiques.

I always assumed they were partners in Antique Archeology but after I read that article featuring Mike a few years ago, I starting thinking it was Mike’s business.

"American Pickers" will remain a one-man show for the foreseeable future ... 'cause TMZ's learned it has no plans to bring back Mike Wolfe's ex-cohost Frank Fritz, and it has nothing to do with their fallout.

Sources close to the production tell TMZ ... Frank stepped away from the show a while back to deal with health problems that required back surgery. This, on top of already dealing with Crohn's disease. Frank hasn't appeared on the show since a March 2020 episode.

When Frank stepped away, we're told the show had to go on. They continued filming with just Mike at the helm.

Frank had been a staple on the show since 2010, but recently said he hasn't spoken to Mike in 2 years ... and his old cohost didn't reach out after the surgery. Frank's since lost nearly 70 pounds through exercising in an effort to have a better handle on his Crohn's battle.

Re: American Pickers

It's funny, I like them both and hate them both. I gave up watching a couple of years back and recently started watching in small doses again. After hearing about how they screwed one seller over on some motorcycle that was worth a mint I stopped watching. I don't enjoy the show nearly as much as I once did, I can't believe how old Danni looks these days, I used to find her strangely attractive but not so much now. Not at all surprised to hear that at least Mike is a dick IRL, and anyone that fails to call a long-time associate after major surgery falls into that category, especially something so in the public eye.

Oh, that's terrible. Hope he pulls through. I no longer get the network but the show really was not the same without him. He brought a real passion to the show and collecting the things he loved.

I really wonder if Frank was more or less just an employee and their friendship was kinda faked.

That always bums me out when a duo I enjoy turn out to not be friends in real life or actively don’t even like each other. I haven’t watched American Pickers regularly in a while but I used to really enjoy it.

Antique Archaeology was always Mike's business. Frank had his own business called Frank Fritz Finds. Frank also sold online. I hate to hear about Frank. He's only 56.

Sounds like Frank isn’t doing better after his stroke unfortunately. Sounds like he needs a guardian and the bank is going to act as his conservator to take care of his finances.

I was honestly afraid to see what was inside when I opened this thread. He seems like a decent guy and I'm sorry to see him doing so poorly. :(

Sucks that DirecTV dumped the History Channel (along with Vice), I liked the shows the channel had.

BTW, old episodes are being shown on the Defy OTA TV network...

Old quote I’m replying to. I knew he had a side business too but the show always portrayed it like he and Mike were partners. From the fact that they went on the road together and both seemed involved in both locations.

I just wonder if Frank had a stake in Antique Archeology as well or if he was essentially an employee of Mike and helped while also finding things for his own business or how exactly that worked out.
