Because occasionally they last 5 seasons?

More often than not they cancel them quickly. Not that I care. I barely watch anything on network.

Once Upon a Time renewed for a 7th season.

http://ew.com/tv/2017/05/11/once-upon-time-season-7-renewal/

Jennifer Morrison is leaving though. She said on Instagram earlier this week that she will appear in 1 episode next season.

Didn't bother bumping the season thread since no one here is watching anymore. 0 posts since September.

Powerless officially cancelled. It was pulled a few weeks ago with 4 episodes left, so this was no surprise.

None of these are surprising except maybe Timeless since that was voted the number 1 bubble show. So far none of the cancelled except for Timeless are shows I watched. Curious about 2BG. That was one of the shows that was voted very heavily thumbs down by the audience yet seemingly no announcement yet.

idk why I do, but I still watch OUAT. I just don't actively talk about it because there often isn't a whole lot worth talking about tbh. It's been pretty much rehashing the same things with a new villian per season / half-season while the main characters keep circling the same mistakes. Seems kind of weird to keep it going without the shows lead, but I can certainly see why she wants to leave. She also left House before it ended... and honestly I hope they consider wrapping OUAT up with season 7.

A newspaper poll or viewers votes has absolutely no voice in whether or not a show comes back.

It's a decision strictly up to the network.

Most of these cancelled shows were cancelled because of very low Nielsen ratings and weren't financially viable to continue making.

2 Broke Girls problem is that Warner Brothers is the studio that makes it and the show is 6 years old now. A show that old is quite expensive for CBS and they have no stake in it for syndication/streaming revenue. CBS has to decide if they want 1 more run and still make some money from ad revenue when it airs.

Then you have as well the catch 22 situation of people won't watch serialized network shows because they don't want to get attached to something that is cancelled in season 1. But if people don't watch then that's why we get NCSI-CSI-Law & Order Part 50 on networks..

Bummer about Dr. Ken. I tuned in regularly for Dave Foley, and to ogle Krista Marie Yu. Not necessarily in that order.

Still they always knew they were living on borrowed time; both season finales could have potentially served as series finales (second one obviously did). The finales were meta, with Ken considering quitting medicine to go into comedy, just like Ken Jeong did in real life. Second finale even had Ken going to a new sitcom by Dan Harmon about community college.

No delusions as to whether it makes a difference. Some shows take a while to build and passionate fans can certainly keep a show alive. Chuck is a good example. If anything it shows there is an audience looking forward to it coming back. There was a blurb in USA Today this morning about Timeless and Last Man being the two of the most requested shows to come back and they both were canceled.

I agree with the catch 22. A lot of shows I won't get invested in if I think it won't last. But that also helps kill the shows so it's a self fulfilling prophesy.

Off topic but somewhat similar. New sales reps in my company face a similar problem. The guy doesn't want to buy until he's seen the rep for 3 or 4 months. But if they don't sell much for 3 or 4 months they quit or get fired and another comes in then they complain that the company is always changing reps.

Wow. How much of a cast are they going to have left for the next season? Are they going to reboot similar to what Sleepy Hollow did?

I should like Speechless more than I do but I find Minnie Driver so annoying, and I know it's the character, but she bugs the crap out of me that I just want to hate fuck her.

Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Renewal and Cancellation News

i actually like Speechless. that show has really surprised me. and they don't use Micah Fowler's cp as a gimmick. they show it to you and he does a great job as JJ. i mean great considering his condition. the other kids are funny in their own way as well. i do have a problem with Bowie bc all i picture is his annoying character in Big Bang Theory. it is also another case of less attractive guy married to very attractive wife on sitcoms of recent...
