Wonder what Fox thinks with all of their ads pushing the show like crazy.

Nice holdover for Black-ish. Kind of surprising as I'm sure Empire and Black-ish cater to a lot of the same target audience. Modern Family still holds onto a good audience chunk, but Empire just crushes viewers. This is better than The Walking Dead, no? And SVU just gets lost in that time. But damn are there a LOT of people watching TV on Wednesday nights at 9.
Live+3 Scream Queens received a 2.7 in the 18 - 49 demo from DVR and VOD viewings of the show. Not included in that rating are the additional 1m views the show received through Fox Now and Hulu (a number rarely reported).

Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Cancellations and Renewal News

Good numbers for Quantico but I'm still troubled by the modest numbers of B99.

Ratings: ABC’s ‘Quantico’ Solid, ‘Blood & Oil’ Modest in Sunday Premieres

September 28, 2015 | 10:16AM PT
Rick Kissell
Senior Editor @ratesrick

ABC had a mixed bag with its Sunday premieres, as “Blood & Oil” was modest behind a sluggish “Once Upon a Time,” while “Quantico” impressed by standing as the network’s top show of the night. CBS did solid numbers for its “CSI” finale as well as its expanded “60 Minutes” featuring Donald Trump, while Fox’s comedy block got off to a soft start.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” (1.8 rating/5 share in adults 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall) was considerably softer than last year in opening its season, losing nearly half of its young-adult audience from last year’s premiere, which was boosted by a storyline tied to the Disney movie “Frozen.” It was able to match its season-finale average of May in 18-49 and was up a bit in total viewers.

It was followed by the series premiere of Don Johnson-Chace Crawford soap “Blood & Oil” (1.4/4 in 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall), which was down 0.8 from last year’s “Resurrection” season premiere in the 9 o’clock timeslot. While not a good start, a 1.4 out of a 1.8 lead-in isn’t terrible for the new drama, which went from a 1.4 at 9 p.m. to a 1.3 at 9:30.

ABC’s best news of the night came at 10 p.m. with the series premiere of “Quantico” (1.9/6 in 18-49, 7.1 million viewers overall), which was up by nearly 50% from the network’s “Revenge” in the same hour a year ago. It built on “Blood & Oil” by 36% (0.5) and, in an especially good sign, held its rating in the 10:30 p.m. half-hour. “Quantico” earned the best reviews of any broadcast drama premiere this fall.

CBS followed NFL action with “60 Minutes” (2.9/9 in 18-49, 15.0 million viewers overall), which had its best rating since late last fall for its expanded 90-minute edition featuring interviews with Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin. It was followed by a special two-hour “CSI” (1.8/5 in 18-49, 12.1 million viewers overall) that serves as the show’s series finale. This was the show’s largest audience since 2012 and its top demo score since March 2014, with last night’s 1.8 up about 33% from last year’s time-period premieres of “The Good Wife” and “CSI.”

At Fox, the first fall appearance by midseason success “Last Man on Earth” and the first “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” since Andy Samberg’s stint as Emmy host was unable to provide a ratings jolt. In the prelims, “Bob’s Burgers” did a 1.3/4 in 18-49 and 2.7 million viewers overall, and was followed by “The Simpsons” (1.5/5 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall), “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (1.5/4 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall), “Family Guy” (1.5/4 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall) and “Last Man on Earth” (1.4/4 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall). “Last Man” was on par with its early-May season finale.

The network looks bad in comparisons to the opening Sunday of last year’s television season, when it had a big football doubleheader lead-in. On that night, it did huge numbers for its “Simpsons”-“Family Guy” crossover, which included an hour-long premiere of the latter.

NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” won the night as usual, as its Denver-Detroit matchup averaged a 13.8 overnight household rating/23 share in Nielsen’s metered markets. While this is the lowest-rated of the Peacock’s games this football season, it was up 12% from the third “SNF” game a year ago (12.3/20 for Pittsburgh-Carolina 12.3/30.

Last night’s game averaged a 7.3 rating/21 share in 18-49 and 19.7 million viewers overall on NBC’s stations from 8:30 to 11. These averages are likely to rise by between 10% and 15% once the full-duration of the game and all West Coast viewing are included.

AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead” was the night’s top-rated entertainment series in 18-49 with a preliminary 3.4 (up a tick from last week) while drawing about 6.7 million total viewers (on par with last week).

Wondering if they'll try to flip Quantico & Blood & Oil's time slots? At a minimum they should try a 2-hour Quantico, to see how it would do at 9pm.

Quantico has already been pre-sold in a major syndication deal in the India TV market. That show will almost certainly get renewed no matter what the ratings are here in the States.

I am sure some people have noticed that American networks are now purposely positioning these shows with an eye on international markets. How about the girl with the British accent on Blood & Oil, a show supposedly in North Dakota. That was jarring.

When was the last time the network PHBs successfully pulled off something like this during the non-summer prime time season?

Wonder if it was something like Nikita?

ABC has always made their network shows with an eye on the British market the past decade. It's why they cast so many European actors on their shows.

They launched a series of shows geared toward young men during a big football game, there was no way that was going to end well. I think it's more important that B99 did just as well as Simpsons and Family Guy.

Minority Report unfortunately is DOA. Early reports say it for a 0.9 for overnights. Even with live + 3 the numbers are still going to suck for an expensive special FX show.

Yep, DOA. This looks like a very expensive show, the FX are outstanding for network television.

Damn Blood & Oil did worse than Resurrection. Bummer they stopped that they since my mom enjoyed it. And Once lost a nice chunk. Guess Frozen really did save them last year. Might be a long year for them.

Sony sold The Player to 105 territories around the world. They will most certainly try to keep this on the air. Ratings for the pilot rose to over 7M viewers in live plus 3.

Bummer Chasing Life is gone. ABC Family really doesn't know what they are doing. Going to be interesting to see what their rebranding does.

Re: The One and Only TV FAQ Thread Plus Cancellations and Renewal News

Damn. I just watched season 1 of Chasing Life on Netflix this summer and was looking forward to season 2.

ABC Family has a bad habit of assembling shows with terrific ensembles, that the feel of an established show from moment one. They then torpedo them and swing the axe. The Nine Lives of Chloe King was the same, except it didn't even get a full first season.

The last season was a disaster, this is not surprising. With Under The Dome getting canceled, I expected Zoo to return next season.

Chasing Life was a quality show with a strong cast. I have a feeling Leo leaving for another show pretty much sunk its chances at renewal. The show had maintained its level of quality and had found a very nice groove. A couple of the actresses are stars waiting to happen on bigger shows.

I'm sure anybody that cares already knew this, but ABC Family is changing its named to Freeform. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/201...eeform/476904/

Weird name, though I will admit ABC Family was a terrible name for some of the shows they put on there.

Most of ABC Family's shows are hardly "family" programming. Pretty Little Liars being the prime example.

The name change still sucks though.

I have a hunch "family" tested very poorly in their ad demo's target age group.

I always found it hilarious that they'd show something like PLL and then immediately follow it up with 700 Club.
