I remember when the movie came out (I was still living in MN) and most people said "that's not how we talk or how we act", but I knew it then and I know it know - yes...yes it is.

I would tend to agree, but the reviewers saying this also really liked S1. The main point of praise I'm reading is that the first 4 eps of S2 start strong, where many felt the first few eps of last season were its weakest. Regardless, I loved S1 and am really looking forward to tomorrow night.
