Re: Shows That Are Universally Loved?
I'd say early season Simpsons are universally loved.

Steve Harvey version of Family Feud. Haven't found a single person who doesn't enjoy it.

I honestly don't think such an animal exists. You name the show and somebody, or lots of somebodys, just didn't care for it.

Most definitely. I don't recall anyone ever having a negative opinion of it.
More thoughts...can a show be Universally loved' by even it's own fan base if there was a mediocre season (Friday Night Lights) or a passionately hated episode (Seinfeld finale)?
An older show like Cheers can rise above dips in quality because of nostalgia. It's not on people's radar anymore. People posting in here having not seen it are missing out.
Couple more I'll toss out; Quantum Leap and Freaks and Geeks.
you have to define universally loved
I would define it as 'most' fans of the same genre love the show
Not really fair for example to say that people who hate all sci fi shows don't like Star Trek
But if most sci fi fans hate for example Defiance, that's more valid
I would say Friends was universally loved by all who liked relationship based sitcoms

A friend of mine didn't like Freaks and Geeks at all.
Friday Night Lights is a good choice. Can't think of anyone that didn't love it.

There isn't one episode of Seinfeld that I don't like, including the finale. But I'll agree that it's easily the most disappointing episode of the series.

Obviously, we won't find a show that literally everyone loves, but some of the nominees seem to come pretty close; Sesame Street is such a sacred cow that even when Mr. "I'll Say Anything to Get My Name Out There" Jerry Falwell was handed the golden opportunity to attack the show for including a character with AIDS he instead praised the show for doing so.
The Simpsons is in a weird place where (nearly) everyone loves the Simpsons themselves but the show is heavily criticized.

Unless this question is lost on me, I guess I don't think there can be an answer. Every show named so far in this thread has some detractors. I've seen people vocal on this forum that they don't even like I Love Lucy.
What about The Twilight Zone?
