Chloe lead-pipe escape was worse then Bauer band-aid suture.

I share your feelings, but here's some info...

24:Live Another Day ratings

According to that article, 24 was originally cancelled due to decreasing ratings. It goes on to say, "The last regular season of 24 averaged a 2.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.28 million total viewers." This season premiered with a 2.56 in the demo and 9 million total viewers... then quickly dropped off. Excluding #9x01/#9x02, it has averaged just under 6 million total viewers.

Now, it's a summer series where one assumes fewer people are watching TV, and also the TV ratings landscape has continued to change during the 4 year sabbatical.

But the combination of current ratings and the creative folks repeatedly telling us, "This is it," doesn't raise my hopes.

This is my wife's first season watching "24" and she finds it "fun". At least she has 8 seasons of DVD's to go back through. If this is truly it for new content, maybe I'll go back through the DVD's with her.

I would not be surprise with a spin off with Yvonne's character. The several year gap was great because we are not burned out anymore on the 24 cliches. If they were to renew it, they would have to shake things up a bit.

Personally I think Jack takes a bullet for Audrey

I would absolutely watch a new season of 24 starring Yvonne as the lead. Love her and the character.

The thing is, it's SUCH an expensive show. No way they bother making one without Keifer. I do hope they revisit things in a couple of years as this season has been great and those two make a fantastic team. Would like to see them hook up eventually (i.e. NOT on the flight back to Washington D.C.).

I don't know what sort of ratings Fox was expecting to get for the show in July when nobody's home, let alone watching TV at 9PM Monday night. I also don't know what the recent change at Fox programming means for this show but it can't be good.

All I know is I'd much rather watch Jack Bauer save the world yet again than, I don't know, watch a bunch of mopey cancer-stricken kids goof around an oncology ward with a B-list Oscar winner.

I recall Kiefer Sutherland saying "this was it" to Letterman a few months ago. Hopefully it isn't so.

I am disappointed the promo scene wasn't shown in story. The one where Jack is walking through a rubble-strewn landscape with a gun in one hand and holding up Chloe with the other.

That was the very first thing they shot. Not at all related to the actual story, they just wanted a badass teaser trailer to run during the Super Bowl.

Tony Almeida's fate will be revealed as a Blu-Ray extra in the 24: Live Another Day season set.

Minor rant: What a waste of Phillip Winchester. He probably took this role since Strike Back is on filming hiatus, but this was the best role they could offer him? After seeing what he's done on Strike Back?
That kind of annoyed me too. I didn't even realize he was in the show until this episode. I would much rather he have been a part of CTU.

He has said some more neutral things recently.

I'm just glad they didn't kill off Bill Devane. His over the top line readings really fit this show. The second half the season wouldn't have been the same without him.

I guess Jack's buddy just disappeared somewhere into the night.

Shouldn't Chloe's raccoon eye makeup be a little smudged up by now?

Kiefer's salary demands are probably holding up an instant renewal. The ratings are good enough for another season but this is definitely an insanely expensive series.

I think they wanted a spin-off with Kate but I really don't see that happening.

If they really did want to do that what would hold it up? Kate is a popular character.

I'm not positive, but I believe Kiefer took a pay cut to work on LAD. In 24's hey day, Kiefer was one of the highest paid actors in television.

I agree that it's not going to be easy green lighting another season. Kiefer will almost certainly expect a huge salary bump.

Yvonne Strahovski is a solid, attractive actress and is more than capable of carrying a series. But, I just don't see a network suit loving the idea of giving a starring vehicle to her, especially with the 24 brand. I hope I'm wrong, but the pending change in leadership at the FOX TV network doesn't give me high hopes.

I believe he got $400,000 per episode during Season 8, or just short of $10 million per season.

Reports are he got $125,000 per episode for LIVE ANOTHER DAY, or $1.5 million for the entire season.

So, yeah, he took a big pay cut to make this happen. I remember when the movie was supposed to be made and they were only going to pay him $1 million to come back. So he got a little more for the TV return, but not much.

That's good info. Yet it's very disappointing. Tony deserved better, and it's unfortunate they couldn't find a way to work him in at all this season.

Cheng was on his way to the docks, and to freedom!, when Chloe went all bitchcakes and jumped. He said, "Leave her." And then we see him next up in a building across from a park sniping everyone around Audrey. Did I miss something? Was that park also near the docks? Do we know how HE knew that she would be there?

I would give that show a chance. She was the best part of the Chuck series and has been very good in this one as well.

I got the impression he was watching a video fead while still sitting in the truck. If anything is over the top, it's that they would have the snipers ready for a meet that only happened because Audrey got daddy to agree to it.

I'm guessing he has a mole in the Chinese Embassy so he found out the daughter was going out to meet with Audrey

I think the biggest problem is that FOX right now has no head of their programming since Kevin Reily stepped down. 24 coming back was OK'd by him so the odds are good that the new person who takes over won't want the show to come back.

Still pretty hard to get a sniper in place for a meeting that is planned that quick. Only on 24...

I'm kind of hoping they kill off Chloe. Not that I don't like the character but it would be a big OMG moment for the series.

Of all the things going on this season, I find Jack stealing a guys wife in 12 hours to be the most impressive.

If they continue the series I think 12 episode seasons are the way to go. Personally though I'd rather have a definitive ending this time than leave it open to the possibility of other seasons.

I didn't like it b/c they FINALLY gave Audrey something productive to do, and it immediately blew up in her face. Audrey is like walking bad news.
