Just got caught up with the last 3 episodes

Hmmm, I really don't have any clue how this is going to end. I don't think they've really set up the "Series Finale" very well. Last episode Becca comes back, says she's getting married, Hank hates it. Then Marcy postpones banging Stu. And then Stu fucks the plastic Marcy doll for practice. Okay.

Damn, they are such teases with Runkle. I was kind of hoping he would get it on with that hot chick in the bar, but of course that wasn't going to happen.

I have a feeling this is going to end on a whimper. Hank won't get the girl and he and Runkle will be miserable together.

Re: Californication (S7E12) -- Series Finale -- "Grace" -- 6/29/14

Well, despite being somewhat pessimistic, I was satisfied with the finale. But they could have done this finale 2-3 seasons ago. Nothing too wacky or over the top.

Hank finally decides to be loyal to Karen.

Marcy and Runkle have a happy ending without her banging Stu. Stu ends up with the Marcy sex doll. :D

Hank plays matchmaker for Julia and Levon.

Everything was pretty straightforward. This season was okay, but I think a lot of it could have been done in a previous season.

The Santa Monica Cop storyline ended up being kind of a waste of time though. That really just helped stretch 6 episodes into 12.

And in the end Beth, the CBS executive, got that lady to give up her seat so he could sit next to Karen.

That's what I took from the episode. That and they could have at least had Kellen Coleman get out of the bed too.

It felt more like just another season finale than a series finale.

Hell... it didn't even feel that much like a season finale. I'm fully expecting to see Hank and Karen in New York at Becca's wedding next week.

There wasn't really an sense of closure. I don't really think Hank grew up any, and neither did Karen, for that matter. Really, Hank and Karen will be back together for a month or two, Karen will do something to push Hank away, Hank will do something stupid to piss her off even more, Runkle's going to do something even stupider, Becca's rushing into what's going to be a bad marriage...

I hate myself for having watched this season. Yeah, it didn't offer a series closure and feels like next week the two of them will be bitching at one another for yet another completely out of Hank's control fuck up that is pinned on him being stupid.

Thank god this show is over. Fuck it. Fuck it in its stupid ass.

Glad the show is over. Feel just like another episode. No resolution. Am I supposed to believe that Hank will be loyal after the plane lands?

The episode would have been lame as a season finale. As a series finale, just comically bad.

Yep, glad this shit is over with. I wish I had enough will power and restraint to stop watching this show many season ago.

They did drag the show out one or two seasons too many but as a finale I thought it was great... Everyone got an on screen happy ending and in the end that's all I wanted to see for Hank and Karen. I was hoping for one final Hank/Lew Ashby scene but that wasn't to be.

Re: Californication (S7E12) -- Series Finale -- "Grace" -- 6/29/14

But it really wasn't a happy ending for them. There's really nothing that was any different than the many other times Hank crawled back to her, they were happy for five minutes before Hank did something/something happens to get it all shitty again.

Thankfully it's done. It was painful to watch the last 3 or 4 seasons.

I agree that there was on real sense of closure. Hank is back with Karen, but I don't see what Hank did that made much of a difference anyway - not that he was to blame for most of the stuff anyway. He was always faithful to Karen when they were together - she just kept pushing him away for stuff that he had no control over. Yes, hew as immature - but Karen was a nutjob.

Runkle/Marcy thing... pretty dumb. Stew gave them a million as penance for messing with their marriage simply because Runkle said so? Much too easy and convenient.

Julia thinks she's going to be with Hank, but Hank did the 'ole switcharoo and put Rick in his place... and Julia's ok with it? Just like that? Because obviously she's ugly and will take whatever's available. Dumb.

Anyway, glad it's over.

Watched this last night and am also glad this show is finally over. Plowed through several episodes over the weekend (wasn't impressed) and the finale was no different. The montage at the end was predictable. Only thing I really liked was the final shot of Hank's Porsche w/the door ajar. Seemed fitting.

Re: Californication (S7E12) -- Series Finale -- "Grace" -- 6/29/14

Compared to the last few, I'd say this was a rather entertaining season. Trading Becca for Levon was a good move. Becca sucked and Levon brought something fresh to the show, as did Heather Graham.

I'm with everyone else on the finale... just don't buy it. Obviously they'd end with Hank and Karen together but what's different here than at any other time before? It could easily fall apart tomorrow. The show pulled the rug out from under us too much with Hank and Karen to make it believable at the end.

A few good seasons and a few bad. I won't exactly look back in fondness on this show but I'd absolutely enjoy watching the first two or three seasons again. The show was based on one premise that had a 3 season lifespan that they dragged out into seven. That was the shows problem. The reason I stuck around for 7 seasons was because despite some rampant stupidity, Hank Moody was a pretty cool character.

Re: Californication (S7E12) -- Series Finale -- "Grace" -- 6/29/14

I'm actually kind of surprised at the tone of this thread - me? I hate seeing this show go. As Series Finales go, this was definitely lackluster. There was no conclusion to be had - wtf was even the point of bringing Becca back? Get the actress for two episodes, and you just tease marriage? And that dream intro suicide scene? Huh?

That being said... this season *really* revitalized the show. Big time. Whiny Becca was MIA, Karen was pretty much DOA the entire season. We got some epic Runkle hijinks, Marcy+Stu shenanigans... But the biggest loss? Heather Graham and the whole Santa Monica Cop crew? Michael Imperioli was a breath of fresh air - surprising, as I was never much of a fan of his outside of the Sopranos. He owned his showrunning Hank Moody Light character here.

So me? I'm really sorry to see this go. Honestly, I could do without Hank/Karen/Becca entirely - focus solely on Runkle, Marcy, Stu, Eddie Nero, Steve Jones' new tell all memoir, plus Graham and Imperioli. Unfortunately the finale kind of missed that point - this show existed, not because of Hank/Karen/Becca, but almost despite them.

Definitely disappointed to have only gotten but a single short season with the sensational work/characters of Graham and Imperioli. C'est la vie.

Pretty disappointed in the finale. I was hoping for more closure for the characters. There wasn't much payoff for anything. Also, the Porsche breaking down scene was pretty dumb considering the Porsche is only a couple of years old. It would have made more sense in the old one, but they destroyed that one.

Poor end to a horrible season. Why they thought bringing in a whole new family dynamic in the last season was a good idea is beyond me. The finale really didn't wrap up the stories for any character. It didn't really tank as badly as Weeds did but I wish I skipped this whole season.

Just curious, what kind of "Closure" were some of you expecting?

It's presumed that Hank and Karen were/are attempting to give their relationship another go, did you want to see them actually moving in together? And then sitting on the porch having a cup of coffee or something? :D Did we really need to see Becca's wedding for closure?

What things about the Marcy/Runkle relationship needed closure? She didn't sleep with Stu, their lives still suck, but the characters are still in love. End of story.

Re: Californication (S7E12) -- Series Finale -- "Grace" -- 6/29/14

Personally, the show should have ended at the season where Karen left her other guy and the last scene was them driving away in his car (can't remember which season that was). What we got didn't even feel like a season finale, let alone series finale.
