I Love the 2000's on VH1

Anybody watching this?

They did a I love the Millennium in 2008 which covered 2000-2007 only.

Just wished they used Michael Ian Black for this but I have only seen 2000 so far and maybe he pops up later.

2000-2008 seem like eons ago and maybe now is the time to reminisce

I watched the 2002 and 2003 episodes and I liked it. They talked about things that I had forgotten.

I'll have to be on the lookout for these...I've always been a sucker for VH1's "I Love..." series.

I forgot 2000 except for American Psycho really sucked.

Just turned on VH1 and saw this... 2005 episode
Sorry, but too soon.

I'm just not ready to look back and reminisce about "How I met your Mother" and "The Polar Express".

As a fan of the original series, this new round sucks.

Probably because they've lost their best contributors (ahem, Michael Ian Black, ahem) and the fact they already did this show five years ago as I Love the New Millennium.

Also, Paranormal Activity as 2007? What the fuck?

Yeah, I really liked the 70's and 80's version of this show. Those are the eras I grew up in.

I enjoyed those shows, too. A big problem with the latest shows is that I have no idea who most of the "commentators" are.

Paranormal Activity was on the film festival circuit in 2007. It got a wide release in 2009 with a new ending. VH1 goofed up there in a way. I also like the previous versions of the show. The I Love the 90s shows were good, but they never made a third series for the 90s. I remember I Love the 80s had three.

Polar Express came out in 2004

Surprised how so many things from the 2000's seem so dated (Paris Hilton) now.

Yeah, some of these dates seem off. I think texting and mp3 players were in the 2001 episode? Did mp3s really come out a good 2+ years before the players? We were downloading songs in 1999 for sure. I'm also pretty sure I was texting that year too, albeit very sparsely.

99.9% of the population didn't know what Paranormal Activity was until its wide theatrical release which didn't happen until its fifth week of release on October 23rd, 2009.

I was one of the first audiences to see the film during Paramount's midnight weekend releases and even I didn't know about the film until September 2009 (when Paramount launched the "demand it" website via Eventful).

I loved the 80s one since that's my favorite decade, and the 90s since that is the decade I have the most memory of. They had started the I Love the New Millenium crap during the 2000s (I forgot what year) and I thought it was dumb. I still have no interest in reminiscing about stuff that's barely 10 years old.

The first commercially available mp3 player was released in 1998, so that's incorrect. The iPod (which obviously revolutionized the hardware) was released in late 2001. They should've emphasized that.

People actually have favorite decades? And those decades somehow have the same digit in the 10s place? Could I pick a favorite decade of 1988-1997 if I wanted to? What name would that decade have?

Lots of missteps in this one. For 2007 they did the "I'm a PC" vs "I'm a Mac" instead of the debut of the iPhone. And I must've really stopped listening to the radio back in the 90s because all the "iconic" music they picked I've never heard of.

Still, pretty enjoyable for the most part.

Wow, what a terrible decade the 2000's was! I enjoyed the 70's, 80's, and 90's, but the 2000's showed me it was the first decade where doing nothing made you famous. You have the Jersey Shore Cast, Octomom, Paris Hilton, Kardashians, etc. It really was the decade that reality TV took over regular tv and blurred the lines. Even the movies from the decade they showed were pretty bad, and you can see how much has changed as HipHop/Rap finally took over Mainstream Music.

Are they re-airing this in its entirety at all at some point?

Looks like some of it will be re-shown on July 6.

I agree, focusing on the iPhone would have been better.

FWIW, they did the 90s one in 2004, just 4 years after the decade it covered. Although this one feels like it's closer.

I think a lot of that is because we don't seem to have evolved as much between this current decade and the last one, whereas the advancement in technology and fashion seem more apparent between the 80s & 90s and then the 90s & 00s.

Honestly, you could tell me it was 2007 today and there isn't that much out there short of smart phones that would make me think any different.

You know, I've had that thought before too. I was looking at pictures of myself from 10 years ago, and I feel like I could be wearing the same clothes today. Even music doesn't seem to be changing as drastically anymore.

Yeah, look at how many people are still using Windows XP, which came out near the beginning of the 00s decade.

Wireless and Smartphones have been everything. Also, American Psycho was a damn good flick, hilariously so.
