Only thing I can think of is when Lester called the cops on the pay phone to report the gun shots....

Now that you guys say that, I do recall having a spark of recognition during that scene but I didn't really think about it too long.

Wouldn't that have been the receptionist cop that molly tells to lock the doors because she is nervous about being alone in the station? Not that they couldn't have dubbed in Frances' voice in regardless. Oh, plus it would have been the night shift.
Another nod (though an obvious one) is that the series ends with a pregnant police chief.

I chuckled at the randomness of Lester being tracked down two weeks later snowmobiling around Glacier National Park in Montana. I suppose that was supposed to line up with the scene in the movie where Jerry (Macy's character) is tracked down in a motel near Bismarck. But at least that made sense as he was on the lam. That, and I thought they gave far too much away in the opening shot (the hole in the ice and overturned snowmobile).

Good finale, but a slight letdown from everything that preceeded it. I really did hope Lester would meet his end at the hands of Malvo.
All in all though, a fantastic series.

So next year, lets get John Goodman as a regular. Maybe some Turturro, Polito or Holly Hunter... maybe even some Bruce Campbell!

So what does everyone think? Will there be a second installment or not?
Curious if they decide yes if they totally do a new cast or bring a few characters back.
Whatever the case, I'm going to buy this if it gets released on Bluray.

Loved the season however I did find it strange the postman shoots an unarmed guy on the couch with a broken leg and is. It charged with a crime but gets an accommodation.

I hope we get another season. I hope that it isn't rushed for next year. If Noah Howley wants to take his time, I'm fine with waiting.
Seems like an obvious connection would be to follow the briefcase and tell the story of the next person who finds the money.
But I'd love a prequel that brings back Malvo and uses Lou Solverson as a cop, before he opened the diner.

Malvo putting down a couple of Feds + mailman married to police chief elect = medal for summary execution

Definitely think Gus should have been in prison for breaking into that house and murdering an unarmed man instead of getting a medal. I guess ND rewards vigilantism and pre-meditated murder.
Loved the bear trap in the bedroom.
I wonder who will find the money next...

The FBI won't do anything because first, Malvo killed two of their own, and second they are really busy with national security.
I liked the finale. This wasn't an action movie kind of show, so the finale was accordingly to the rest of the season. And yes, like everyone I wanted Malvo to kill Lester, but it was shown time after time that that wasn't going to happen, luck or Lester being smart.

Hey now, that was MN, not ND (most of the show was set in Bemidji, MN). WE are the ones who reward vigilantism and pre-meditated murder.

I went back and listened and I am pretty sure it was McDormand on the call. The receptionist had a similar voice so it's possible without seeing her, she sounds like McDormand but I am like almost 100% sure it is her. A great nod to the movie and her voice is very distinctive.
One thing that I totally missed (mentioned in the below article) is that the car dealer that Malvo takes hostage is the same dude that didn't buy insurance from Lester at the beginning of the series!
