The way this is going, if there is a time jump it will be for the last 2 hours only.

I didnt keep up with the preproduction news, but was there confirmation that the season was supposed to take place over the course of 24 hours? Or is that just supposition?

Yes, it's supposed to cover a 24 hour day. However, there has been no confirmation when exactly a time jump is supposed to happen. I saw one report that it may happen after episode 8.

I've also read that the time jump is just to get Jack from the UK back to the US to finish out the season.

At least with a faster season, people are listening and trusting jack quicker now

Good ep, still a great season so far. Its almost like the show never left.

It was a given once Navarro said that he was taking point that they were going to be walking into a trap. Yes the show is cliche now (though to be fair it started all the cliches). But the show is still suspenseful and still damn good. Honestly I think this might be the strongest the show has been since season 5.

And the head of the terrorist cell really needs an Emmy nomination. She's been fantastic in that role. Honestly everyone's been fantastic. The only really weak link is Yvonne. Not because shes really bad in the role just that she's pretty one note in her performance so far.

Mother of the Year Margot ranks right up there with the best 24 villains.

"If I saw it, I wouldn't have said WHAT."
Dress her in goth/punk, but that is classic Chloe!

The show still manages to hold your attention with some edge of your seat stuff. It has definitely benefitted from having a loong break.

Good episode. Powerful moment between Audrey and Jack. They did a great job in that scene.

I was worried we were going to have to wait 3 hours for some drone action.

12 hours are used for Jack just milling around. Spends a couple of hours on reddit, takes a bath and a couple of naps before a game or two of Call of Duty before catching up on some of his DVR stuff.

 the highlight of this episode was by far Michelle Fairley. So good tonight. How stupid was that Naveed guy?

Also good scenes with Jack and Heller as well as Jack and Audrey's reunion.

Pretty obvious Navarro and Eric were walking into a trap. But at least it gave Benjamin Bratt the chance to get out in the field.

If this was 24 episode season, I think they would have drawn out the distrust with Jack longer. At least things are moving faster.

I watched the first five seasons. How critical are the last three to get started on this one?

It's 24, you just need to know there's a mole somewhere and Jack will get in trouble for saving people.

There's never enough time to watch those last three seasons. Dammit. :(

hanshotfirst1138 05-27-14 02:33 AM

I borrowed the DVD boxed set of the first season from my friend. It's preposterous, but I must admit, it's highly addictive and very slick.

Good to see Chloe still knows how to open a socket. Just make sure you're on a 4G network. Looks like Benjamin Bratt picked the wrong day to go back into the field. Is he a crispy critter or will he hang near death until the final hour when he recovers long enough to congratulate Kate on her new job running CTU?

I think Redemption and Season 7 are worth watching. Season 6 is generally considered the worst. And Season 8 was pretty rough overall.

I really hope that's not where they're going with this but I have that fear. Once again, "ONLY KATE" can figure out It's a Trap! while everyone else rushes in full speed. They are SO overdoing this "only Kate" thing it's ridiculous.

LOVED the scenes with Jack/Heller and Jack/Audrey, the first super tense and the second super emotional & very well done.

I thought Episode 5 was very much like Episode 3, in that our characters were being re-positioned once again for the next storyline thread. The big difference last night was that this episode wasn't as nearly as dull as the third episode, even though Jack (much like Episode 1) didn't have a line of dialogue until a half hour in.

There's always a few things that irk me on '24', so here's my biggest nitpick from last night (again, I should restate I thought it was a good episode overall):

Jack's meeting the President, and when Heller comes into the room, Bauer stays firmly planted in his seat. Hello? Jack should know better! When the President comes into the room...any room...you get off your ass. Now, I suppose it could be Jack sending Heller a message that he's lost respect for him, but I suspect it was just bad writing/directing. As a trained operative and patriot, Jack should respect the office, no matter what his personal feelings.

Laughably then, when Audrey comes in, Jack can't stand fast enough! ;)

I totally noticed that as well, and I took it as Jack sending a message to Heller, because it just seemed kinda cool after Heller ignored everything Jack was saying and sent in the Marines to kill/capture him. No idea if it was intentionally done that way or not, but that's how I wanted to see it.

I noticed Jack initially look happy to see Heller and then quickly changing to stoic and ultimately confrontational.

He used to have the utmost respect for the man, but as they mentioned to each other on the phone last episode, they don't have that for each other anymore.

I don't think it played off as false in any way.

That's what I though too. Jack still calling him "Mr. President" shows that he still has respect for the presidential officer. But when Heller walked in there I think it showed that Jack doesn't really have respect for who holds the office of President. This was even more evident when he flat out told him that he wasn't going to let them blow the only good lead that they have.

To be fair at that point and time I don't think anyone would think it was a trap or even care. There's going to be a huge civilian terrorist attack using the United States own drones. If you think you have a lead you don't wait or worry it's a trap you react because time is of the essence.

I appreciate that he didn't stand up for the President but did for Audrey.
