This should be interesting (or not) now that we'll be in the same story arc for the next 3 weeks.

I loved the shower mime scene. Oddly mesmerizing.

I was incredibly uncomfortable with him asking her to stay. I had to pause that scene a couple of times.

So it seems like the opening credits/theme song is gone for good.

I don't think so, when he's done these long story archs, I think it typically disappears.

I'm pretty sure that the opening theme hasn't been in any of the episodes this season.

Yeah, that's a good thing. Air time is precious. Always liked the shows that didn't have some 1-minute theme song/opening.

In the first episode, what was that thing on the ground behind them when he was talking to his daughter on the park bench? It looked like a dead body lying face down, but surely that couldn't be it.

Wow, these were great. So many wonderful moments, from the shower mime to the re-meeting his old friend to Charles Grodin's great three legged speech.

This is a show that would be better suited to the Netflix model of making the episodes available and letting you watch at your leisure.

There were funny bits (like fat Bob Kelly in a towel), but Louis doesn't seem to be interested in doing a "comedy" as much as he wants to make a show that is "engaging".

There have been so many moments that filled me with such joy (such as the violins) I worry we're being set up for something terrible.

This is great stuff, but doesn't really work in the format of a weekly TV show. I wonder if Louis considers forgetting FX and selling Season Five as a download? That would be a pretty groundbreaking thing.

Yep, definitely a body. Not sure if it's supposed to be dead or not, but let's say...yeah. I wonder if that came from this:

The time Louis C.K. found a dead body in the East River
LATE NIGHT
August 21, 2013|By Meredith Blake

Fans of Louis C.K. know the comedian has a morose streak, but Tuesday on “The Late Show” he took this dark tendency to a new extreme, sharing with David Letterman a bummer of a story about finding a dead body in the East River. It was quite a departure from the innocuous canned anecdotes that are the norm on late night -- perhaps too much of a departure for some -- but it was entirely in keeping with C.K.'s melancholy brand of humor.

That's the genius of this show, I think it's perfect counter programming from the usual dreck out there. I love the fact that his comedy isn't the usual "wait for the punch line" type of setups. It's pretty unique to see a show like this not knowing at all what will happen, funny or not. It's engaging comedy I guess you could say. FX will keep his show running until he decides to stop.

Any guess if he'll try and marry the Hungarian girl by the end of the season? I'm glad he walked away from Pamela like that.

Exactly. This show perfectly amplifies why shows like Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men are utter formulaic shit.

That scene was intense. She came off like such a horrible person. You could tell she was hurt and trying to cover up by joking, but I was still urging Louie to get away from her as fast as he can.

I can't believe we've seen the last of her and while I don't expect her to go full Glenn Close, I'm sure it isn't to be pretty.

I doubt she (Pamela) is gone, just yet, as well.

LOVED the violin scene! Especially because they both actually play.

I'm so glad they have back to back episodes. Each one goes by way too quickly.

For me, Louie's reaction kind of came out of nowhere.
I can't remember exactly how it ended between them, but I thought they parted as friends. I remember him professing his intentions to her, and she basically shot him down. Then later she left and at the airport Louie followed her or something like a lost puppy (did he drive her there or just try to stop her from leaving?) - but she left and that was the end. I don't remember him hating her or anything. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly.

IIRC, it was mostly like that, but at the end he misinterpreted her and believed she was saying he should wait for her.

Didn't she also offer to sleep with him, at one point, but was so indifferent about it that it put him off?

Re: Louie -- "Elevator Part 2 and 3" -- 5/19/14

Really liked these episodes as well. Pamela coming crawling back after he had gotten over her and found someone new to like was something that can definitely be related to. Then the capper that Amia that she's moving back to Hungary is shitty for him. Also a lot of good moments between Louie and Jane. That's the one thing I like about this show is that it can blend humor with semi-serious situations and handle it in a way where the show doesn't get too dramatic for it's own good. Also I understand that he and Janet are divorced and probably have issues, but she comes off as a bitch a lot of times and just acts like she's totally above him. The speech between Louie and the doctor about the three-legged dog was good too.

Also, count me as one who misses the opening theme. I know that the air time is valuable but I really enjoy hearing it.

My wife is ecstatic about this. She had some sort of complex about Louie throwing out that pizza slice week after week. Drove her nuts.

I liked when Jane said "they don't understand how numbers work, and they want me to do it all wrong" - nice dig at Common Core.

It's probably not the actors' faults they're on such shitty shows, but the girl who plays Jane out classed pretty much everyone on a CBS sitcom ever on these episodes. And that's not even really fair to her - she killed it.

Actually, no the kids from Modern Family et al. should be embarrassed for the work they do.

All he throws away is the crust. They jump cut through him eating the whole slice.

You guys might want to exchange photos of your wives, just in case the same woman is two-timing you both.

Is the guy who plays Louies brother a comedian too in real life?

His kids never age on the show and I think the this and last weeks episodes were the first time they starting causing trouble.

They've caused minor trouble before in the first couple of seasons if I recall. I love the fact they make zero effort to explain why the girl's mom is completely black.

She offered to take a bath with him, but Louie was so pouty over being shot down by her in the previous scene that he was too busy feeling sorry for himself to notice.

The scene with Pamela hit a little too close to home (pining over someone you shouldn't, then having them be interested once you've moved on), and considering how some of the show episode titles have been spoiled, I'm a little worried where that story arc is going.

I'll grant you that there's a jump cut - but there is definitely sauce visible in the shot.

Plus, you're assuming my wife is not ball-bustery enough to frown upon people even throwing out just the crust.

Either way, he's throwing out too much pizza for her liking.

I guess your wife is more optimistic then I am; where I see the pizza as half-gone, she sees it as half-there.
