Grace and Frankie - Netflix. On S5 Ep 13. I believe I picked up from S3 Ep 11. Glad I decided to start it up again since Season 7 was just released. Fun show and a pretty fast background viewing binge,

First season of Family on Tubi. One of my favorites in the day, but I realized I hadn't seen the first season before when a different actress was playing older sister Nancy. Meredith Baxter didn't arrive until season 2. Also, in season 1, they all (especially the father) seem angrier at one another than in later years.

Re: Last Show You Binged?
Started rewatching The Walking Dead. I had watched Seaon One when it originally came out, and I enjoyed it for what it was, but felt that the hype got a little bit too high, with tons of people who had criticized zombie films in the past quick to jump on the bandwagon (maybe that's just me, but I knew a ton of people that would condescend if I tried to get them to watch something like Fulci's Zombi, the original Night of the Living Dead, or even probably my two favorite Romero's, Dawn and Day. But, the cast was great. Always love to see Michael Rooker, and loved the interaction between Lincoln, Bernthal, and the great Norman Reedus. That said, I think I was just crazy busy with work and university at the time the Second Season came around and I was just constantly missing episodes, and I never caught up. What a mistake that was, cause I thought the Second Season was even better...like four or five times better. I recently got to the scene where...
Spoiler:
Great show...And I feel like Bernthal and Reedus are the standouts...Bernthal I was iffy about at first, but between this and The Punisher, not to mention some movies he's done like I think he had a really nice role in The Wolf of Wall Street, he's a great, generational actor... |

Fringe Season One.
This is my second viewing of the series. I watched with my Dad when it was airing. So many episodes I forgot about. Great show. |
Re: Last Show You Binged?
Major Dad - Netflix. The kids were well-cast in this show. I believe I am about half-way through Season 2 and with only 4 seasons total it should be a fairly quick binge. So this is odd, for some reason I kept thinking that Gerald McRaney passed away, but I go to IMDB and see he has been on N.C.I.S. Los Angeles which I do watch and I remember him now. So weird that I thought he had passed.

I'm finding the whole prison aspect interesting in Season Three, and I'm enjoying it thus far. I also find the Governor thing interesting, and I want to see where it goes, although I really don't like the Michonne character. Like, she acts stealthy and all that, but if anything she sticks out like a sore thumb. Her and her samurai sword. That just didn't impress me too much, although we'll see where her character goes. I heard she's kind of a fan-favourite, and I'm only on Episode 5 of Season Three, so there's still lots of episodes left in the season. I'll also add that I'm a fan of Lew Temple, who I think is an underrated actor, so seeing him as one of the prisoners is neat...And also, finally... Spoiler:
Hell, I might finish binging Season Three overnight, probably have Season Four done by the weekend (although, I don't own any of the subsequent seasons, so there might be a problem there, as I doubt I can afford them at the moment...oh well, it sucked when I lost Netflix, cause I still haven't actually seen all of The Punisher Season Two, or even the last couple episodes of Daredevil Season Three, for that matter...So I'll catch them down the road...) |

Would also just add that I'm really not liking the storyline with Carl the kid...Feels a bit forced, and like a lot of child actors, I don't think the acting is necessarily the strongest... |
Re: Last Show You Binged?
The Walking Dead: Season Four - A little hit-or-miss, but with some key highlights. Loved how they...
Spoiler:
Didn't really like the relationship between Rick and his son. I feel that kid needs to get knocked upside his head, and the more "angry" he acts, the worse the acting gets. But I mostly blame my issues with his character on the writing. Had the writing been a bit better, particularly his dialogue, I probably wouldn't have such an issue. I've always liked the Carol character, so it was nice to see her given more time, and I especially was blown away by... Spoiler:
Didn't care too much for most of Daryl's arc, but oh well...I'm sure he'll have much more to do later on. Anyway, kind of sucks now cause that's all of the seasons I own on Blu-Ray, so it might be a while til I get to see any additional episodes. Oh well...down the road, I guess... |

Squid Game (Korea) - Netflix
An absolutely batshit crazy, gore splattered mashup of Battle Royale, The Hunger Games, Alice in Borderland, Saw and the countless ripoffs of those films. If you don't like seeing a lot of bloody corpses and people getting their brains blown out, this might not be the series for you. But gorehounds rejoice! This alternates between being both a tense rollercoaster ride of suspenseful thrills as well as a thought provoking melodrama that illustrates just how quickly people are willing to abandon their morals in order to survive and whether gaining wealth is worth the cost of losing one's humanity. While the lead character starts out as an annoying goofball (played way over the top initially) who makes one bad decision after another, his transformation as the series progresses is quite impressive. The series is almost derailed by a cliche-laden subplot involving some filthy rich VIPs who arrive on the scene to observe and comment on the "games" and are portrayed by english-speaking actors who deliver their godawful dialogue with all the conviction of preschoolers trying to do Shakespeare. Luckily they only besmirch one episode. I also think I recognized the actors who played the dad in Train to Busan and the the NIS agent in I Saw the Devil. |

Re: Last Show You Binged?
I am back to working on completing my viewing of Major Dad, and I am about through with the first 1/4 of Season 3. So I have less than 2 seasons worth of eps to finish up. I said this already, but yes, this show has been a pleasant surprise to rewatch (I know I watched some of the show when it first aired, but I definitely do not remember watching seasons 3 and 4). It really comes down to the casting of the kids as they get a fair amount of air time and there was no kid that I particularly disliked on the show which helps big-time with my enjoyment of this sitcom.

Good show but have no desire to ever go back and re-watch. Big Bang Season 12 Final Season. (HBO Max) I stopped watching back in season 10. The show jumped the shark when Bernie got pregnant again. Decided to hate watch the rest just to see how it all ends. A few good episodes but it def. Outstayed it's welcome. |
Re: Last Show You Binged?
Rewatching The Sopranos for the third time. At this point, I've read and own probably close to 50 mafia books, so I get a ton more of the references and whatnot, so I still enjoy it. That said, I still cringe almost every time an AJ or Meadow story takes prominence. I could care less for those, especially the AJ ones. And it's not like Robert Iller is a bad actor (although I'd say he's not that great), but they're often poorly written in my mind. And I just turned onto Season Six: Part One and now I have to watch all these stupid, stupid dream sequences. Like, one of the few filmmakers that can actually make dream sequences work is David Lynch, and even he sometimes stumbles. I just thought David Chases's attempts were horrible (and I hated them the first time I saw them, too). So, I'm still gonna watch it to the end again, but these dream sequences really, really annoy me....and then we have the whole Vito plot to "look forward to"...NOT....that was one of the dumbest plots ever cooked up...but whatever...there's a reason why, while The Sopranos is still great, I'd easily rate Breaking Bad, Deadwood, The Wire, and even Carnivale above it...They stayed true to their convictions, The Sopranos didn't...

Re: Last Show You Binged?
Squid Game and Midnight Mass for me. Really enjoyed both, Midnight Mass could have been trimmed down and been something of a mass appeal genre staple, but I actually enjoyed all the philosophizing in it.
